as soon as the couple have seen there photos will ask if I can share a couple on this private forum... I have a good few with the a7sii at 51200 that are just insane.... also the a7rii bouquet shots pleasantly supplied how well it coped
The D750 is also good for hi ISO but its just not anywhere Id ever want or get to be tbh. Some would argue better to actually get the shot though, guess it depends on the client etc. but with my combo of lenses even in very dark areas I never get that high unless I cock up with my shutter speed or stop down a crazy amount.

yeah was pitch black int he evening poss the darkest venue I have been to just used it as a test as had the icelights with me as well but they are useable which I'm shocked at tbh.... I never used Nikon tbh I own a 6d and its a bit better than that at high iso but I haven't done any scientific tests or anything..the a7sii does focus very very quick in this sort of light though which is another consideration..... tbh I'm really surprised it is as good as it is ( I borrowed it off the wife and olny took 25 ish shots so take it with a pinch of salt until I have done further tests etc)
6D is decent, probs half stop worse than the D750 at ISO51200. I think the A7S/II are set to focus faster than the other models because of the intended use, their AF points focus to lower EV, I think its measured at almost -4EV which is very impressive but then its not as impressive because it has no phase in better light.

I know with my A7S low light stills were good but never blew me away vs the d750 and the difference was very minimal, video on the other hand!! I think its a video camera more than stills though tbh, she bought the right tool for the job.

Yes I could have waited but thought I would pull the trigger now as I had been saving up for quite some time to buy new gear.
Worst case scenario I continue in my current IT profession and just scale down on the bodies later on, perhaps trade in all 3 of my bodies for the A9 / A7RII.

I've just checked my Lightroom Metadata to see the split of shots Nikon>Sony.
Out of 397 final edits, 70 were taken on the A6000 so not a bad split. I wasn't actively thinking about which camera I was shooting with, just using the Sony for longer range on the 70-200 and the Nikon for everything else with the 28-70.
Just picked up a couple of examples from the 70-200;
F5.6 @ 70mm ISO 200
F4 @ 113mm ISO 3200
I was also shooting with the Sony 50/1.8 OSS which delivered good results too;
Father of the Groom F2.2 ISO 160

Lucky guy. Ordered mine 30th November.
Finally pulled the trigger after waiting far too long for it to actually be in stock when Zeiss had a 10% off all lenses offer. I was surprised that the offer extended even to a lens they were months behind demand on, but I figured that if I was going to be waiting forever anyway, I might as well wait forever with a 10% discount.

Yeah, I always liked my previous A6000 and did regret getting rid tbh. For the money vs performance its pretty much impossible to beat.
Now to source a 35 1.8 OSS. Or might wait for the new Sigma 30 1.4.

It was some Black Friday thing I think. Either way it got my pre-order down to £818.

It'll be worth the wait so hang in there.
On the positive side, the Sony hitting the shelves might free up a few on the 2nd hand market and lead to a few cancelling their pre-orders skipping us ahead in the line. On the negative side, my growing impatience might make me join them, to the detriment of my poor wallet.

Not painful, as mine are on the way
should have them today or tomorrow. I thought about cancelling and going for the Sony 85mm GM but the near £700 price difference vs Batis 85mm isn't worth it for me at the moment.

Awesome little camera, probably the best price/performance ratio out there which I guess is why it's apparently the best selling mirrorless camera ever. Still not entirely sure why I sold mine...A6000 on its way.

I never really leave tbh.
You should consider the A6000, you have all the lenses anyway and body is so cheap. Its less than 1 stop worse than the A7/ii but AF is way better and imo handling to. Lot of camera for the money.

There was something on the rumour site within the last couple of days about a new camera coming and one possibility was an A7III. I found this pretty surprising as the bodies seem to be coming along quickly. I suppose this is to be expected from what has traditionally been an electronics company but even so... there's been fast progress indeed even if the new camera doesn't turn out to be an A7III of some description.Welcome back to Sony

I'd hope that any new camera being announced soon wouldn't be a new A7, and I hope that we wouldn't see an A7III until at least the end of the year.
While there's room for an IBIS-enabled body above the A6300 and a refresh of the A5000 line with the new tech, I don't expect either until the A6300 has at least sold through the initial demand. A new budget A7-lite to replace the A7 at the bottom of the price range would be possible. However in light of the introduction of the G Master line, it's more likely to be a "pro" (I hate that term - there's no such thing as a pro camera, just a pro photographer, who can use any camera they damn well please) body with all of the "pro" features that some have demanded - bigger body, bigger battery, more horsepower, dual card slots, and all the nice bits from the A6300 like the higher fps viewfinder. I'm not sure what fps counts as a "pro" nowadays - I'm reliably informed by internet experts that it's anything from 10 to 15 - but maybe a boost there, too.

I can't see myself buying a "pro" body but even dual card slots would excite a lot of people. Maybe there'd be room for a RF style FF interchangeable lens camera but that could hit the RX1 thingy.
Personally I'd like to see more lenses and more lenses for the A6000 series too. I keep looking at the APS-C line as a replacement for MFT but for me there are crucial gaps in the lens line up.

More lenses would be great, and supposedly there's as many as 8 in total this year. If I ever get my hands on the Batis or Sony 85mm I'll be all set (except possibly a nice 135mm), but I know there are loads of people who want things not currently available, like >200mm, wide primes, or a budget 50mm.

A compact 35mm f1.8 would probably make me spend my money but other than that I'm undecided. I rarely use 28, 85 or 135mm lenses or zooms but the biggest factor with me is time as I'm often busy pretty much 24/7 and find it difficult to justify thousands of pounds worth of kit when I get so little time to use it. Got a holiday in April, looking forward to that and will be off to Thailand later in the year.
Not gonna happen. A 35mm 1.8 to cover FF will be fairly large. Think 72.0 x 71.5 mm.

Don't both Canon and Nikon do quite compact (more so than the Sony 35mm f1.4) 35mm f2/1.8 FF lenses?
f2 would be close enough and if it's more towards the bulk of the 35mm f2.8 than the f1.4 it could grab my interest.
