What does high end mean in this case though, 1D or 5D?
I have a feeling it might be 7D…..unfortunately. Being the oldest of the Pro bodies.

And painterly landscapes Yeah that purple grid thing's weird.
Dont know thelady but that looks like Alf from the corner shop?DSC03358 by James Andrew Dawson, on Flickr
Took my A7ii with 85mm loxia to work, sat out in the sun at lunch messing about; this hand held at f2.4

Yes Toby paid a bit towards it,so he could havesomeone to talk to in thereAnother d850 lol
The teethOoooh, you're being very sexist and labellist. Why does the other person need to be a "lady"?
Not entirely sure, possibly the 200-500 f56 but may prefer something going from 100mm

Hello,
Looking to buy into the Sony system, not quite sure what to get. Have a budget of approx. £1,000, don't mind going down the used alley either.
Starting from scratch at the moment and therefore lens needs to be a decent all rounder.
I was thnking of the A7S as it's a FF with 4K video capabilities.
Same here, picked up the original A7 and the Sony 24-70 f4 for just over £1k.I’ve just done the same thing.
A7II used from LCE. 400 clicks £799. Added the nifty fifty. £179, not the fastest thing to focus but good image quality.
I don’t do video though.
The Sigma 100-400mm is very good. Should be ample reach for motorsport and is considerably lighter than the 200-500mm.
Which circuits are you thinking of shooting motor sports at?Will take a look, last time I was out shooting (last year) the 200mm almost wasn't wide enough so having 100mm would be good.
Lovely chap....
Sure is... quality piece of glass.
Now that you've had Sony for a while, what do you think overall to the system, bodies and lenses?
Miss anything about the Leica / DSLR's you have used in the past?
Do you see yourself sticking with Sony long-term?

I came from a NEX 7 which I sold.
I kept the E 16-50 Pancake lens which I occasionally use if I want the camera very small and light and want to take "snaps".. only 11MP APS-C but saves having a second NEX body. Video works well on the lens as it's a motorised zoom.

Didn't think of this combo. Is that a Sony nifty fifty?

If you don't need the IBIS the A7 is a good cheaper option. Sensor performance is pretty much the same.
A7S only exports 4K doesn't shoot 4K internally. If you want internal 4k you'll have to get A7SII or A7RII at the minimum.I was only looking at the A7S due to it's 4K videoing capabilities.
YesAm I correct in thinking that the "FE" lenses are the full frame lenses?

I have made video recordings, mostly of the kids etc. I think for video you'd want image stabilisation as @twist mentioned, but some of my lenses have OSS (Optical Steady Shot)This is one of the kits I was looking into, barring trying to find a A7S body. Have you made any video recordings on this?

Even the a7 is pretty good in low light, and focus was fine, probably better than my a900 was. I was amazed actually how good the school disco video I took came out considering he lighting. It's not 4k though - if that is an issue.
I bought the a7 because it was relatively cheap and is pretty flexible in terms of use. I'll be getting an a7iii when I can pick one up for £600
f56, aye? I can picture it now, off for a whole days shooting, only to come home to a folder full of photos like this...
The Sony full frames IBIS in video isn't that great, nowhere near as good as smaller formats. Lens OSS is better.
@saul01 Why do you need 4k?
4k is useful for downsampling to 1080pI don't really need 4K, was trying to future proof myself.
After this purchase I can't see me upgrading for quite a while.
