maybe you didn't push it hard enough. Grips are pretty awful on Canon too; you have to go full R3 or 1DX (or preferably Z9 with the adapter)I’m not sure why the battery grips wobble on Sony as I never had an issue with my Nikon DSLR battery grips.
A9 III is perhaps the one that should have gone full size. There is a case for A1 just not as compelling, or perhaps splitting the line Z9/Z8 way with higher end new model getting faster cards, and bigger batteries in gripI have no issue with them making a larger body for those that want it, but I’d not want it to replace the A1 series I’d want it to be in addition so that the A1 series would be for those that prefer smaller bodies.
What do you mean by using peaking with a dial? AFAIK peaking is either on/off which you can assign to a button or have it come on automatically when manually focussing. You can choose the peaking colour and also how sensitive it is.HI all,
I changed to the A7RM5...
also got a 50mm macro to use with the auto, and an adaptor to use the other lenses.
Does any know if there is an option to use peaking via a dial whilst manually focusing (the other lenses) ?

The stock markets always get jittery if they think company A might be wanting to do something with company B. It sparks off all sorts of rumours and rarely the truth.Just read that Nikon have "acquired" Red. I thought Nikon were in a spot of trouble but if they've got money to spend acquiring then I guess not.

Sorry if I upset you. No, I’m not saying that at all, but as someone who worked at a stockbrokers this is the sort thing which does sometimes happen. If I may say, you seem to be getting a little touchy these days, Alan.I don't understand... Just Googled and there are multiple sources saying this has happened days ago. Are you saying it's not true?

Did you see my PS?Upset? No. Just baffled by your post as you seemed to be implying this was a rumour when it's all over the net as being a done deal. The net could be wrong so I hoped you clarify your post in case I'd missed something. Seems I haven't.
Touchy? No. Almost never. I'm struggling to think why you'd think so. Maybe you're thinking about a response of mine in another thread to someone who seemed to imply that kit didn't matter when clearly to some in some instances it does. That's the only thing I can think of that I've posted recently which could be thought of as "touchy." The other poster seemed to think it was but it wasn't actually. I was mealy pointing out the obvious which is that no matter how good a photographer anyone thinks they are for some shots kit with special abilities is needed. Maybe the other poster was a bit more sensitive to his POV being challenged. I don't know. I just felt that an alternative POV was required.

As in zoom in to verify Focus, using peaking. Was thinking a dial to do various zooms, no just max and minWhat do you mean by using peaking with a dial? Ahh so you mean focus zoom on a dial not peaking. I'm not sure as I seldom use manual focus, however something in the back of my mind's telling me that once it's zoomed in you can then adjust the amountAs in zoom in to verify Focus, using peaking. Just tried on the A1, when you first rotate the focus ring it zooms in to 4.2x and then pressing the centre button it changes to 8.5x, press again to return to 4.2x.I found an option in the menu but it just zoomed to max, plus had to go through the menu...
I'll have a read and a play later on

I traded in one of my A900's for an A7iv last year, and currently us mostly A-Mount lenses via the LA-EA5.Anyone used an E mount Sony with the A mount adapter so you can use minolta lenses? I have the A99 still and it’s a bit of a fatso so wondered whether a newer e mount body might be better instead of a normal compact.
Yes, I put it in after your response to clear up my meaning. No I didn't. Added later?
Although I had a Nikon for a very long time I'm not emotionally invested in the brand so no, any financial news about them isn't going to upset me.

My Sony 50 f/1.4 and Minolta 85 f/1.4 G RS work OK
Depends on your intentions....Anyone used an E mount Sony with the A mount adapter so you can use minolta lenses? I have the A99 still and it’s a bit of a fatso so wondered whether a newer e mount body might be better instead of a normal compact.
The 50 f/1.4 was probably my least used lens - I'd either use the Minolta 85 f/1.4 G RS for head / shoulders portraits, or the 24-70 f/2.8 if I wanted something wider for convenience.I still have the A mount 50 f1.4, and while I like the rendering and coma effect in some circumstances, it's a vintage design. If sharp neutrality is your thing then the 55 f1.8 is a bargain. If smooth rendering is more important then I really like the Samyang 50 f1.4 MK1. If you're wealthy then get the Sony 50 f1.2.
Female Mallard by Ben Cheneler, on FlickrI breifly had the noodle maker 75mm, performed admirably.Have bought another noodle maker for the A7CII, 18mm this time. Still need a longer lens for it but can’t decide between the noodle maker 75mm and the Siggy 65mm.
I've had samyang 75mm twice...I breifly had the noodle maker 75mm, performed admirably.
Ello, long time no see
Well, i've been in NZ for just short of 5 months now, however, i've been that busy i've not had much time for photography, however, it hasn't stopped me GASsing
Just purchased a Sigma 16mm F/1.4 and Sony FE 70-300 G OSS yesterday, the sigma worked out at $669nz (about £330), which i've just noticed is about £100 less than UK pricing, the Sony, i got from the Sony store here in Auckland, it was up for $2499, i was going to hire it for a cruise i'm going on, but it would have been $400 to hire, so i thought sod it, i want it, i may as well buy it, so i agreed to buy it for $2499, went to the till to buy it, they said i could have it for $2124 (£1030ish). I wasn't going to argue with that haha. Anyway, that gets delivered on Friday and completes my kit now. However, i'mm not happy with my manfrotto tri medium backpack so that's going to have to change soon. Also, now, i just need to get out and use my kit now LOL.
Wow! 6 years since I last visited here, doesn't time fly!! I was just thinking about TP so thought i'd pay a visit!
I breifly had the noodle maker 75mm, performed admirably.
I've had samyang 75mm twice...
One new and one used described as mint
Both came with s*** tons of dust for a new/mint lens. So returned both!
It performed ok-ish... Wasn't sharp across the frame till f/5.6. it's perfectly good wide open as long as your subject is centre to mid frame.
Depends on your intentions....
If your still have the A99 I feel your are obviously looking for a body that you can keep with you a while.
I moved from a-mount to e-mount, admittedly long before LA-EA5 was released. I used a lot of Minolta lenses on LA-EA4 and they worked just fine for general purpose.
I'd suggest going with e-mount if you plan on replacing your lenses in the long run. If you plan on keeping them in the long run then A99ii might be a better option. You can get them used for a good price. Image quality is on par with latest and greatest. The body is smaller than A99II (about same size as A77 series). The AF and IBIS is upgraded too.
The handling with a-mount lenses+Adapter will not be nice unless you are only using the smallest of Minolta lensesI’m happy with A mount. No plans to replace any and they work on the dynax 9 film camera I have too. I did consider the a99ii. I may revisit it.
The A7c appeals the most as it’s already a bit lighter to offset the adapter.
