After much deliberation, changing of minds, and consultation of shop staff and TP members (in my "Can't decide between the D7000 & 60D" thread) and also much holding and playing with various cameras, I will be the proud and excited owner of a Nikon D7000 in approx 2 hours!

WAHAAAAAY!

It's my first DSLR, but not my first camera so I'm confident that I will eventually tame this beast of a camera!

HaHa! You sound like my wife ;-)

Well, I have 30 days to take it back and exchange it for another camera if I don't get on with it, so if I've made the wrong choice I'm not stuck with it.

So getting it from Jessops? think I will be getting one soon.

Nothing in the price betweeen Amazon and Jessops, Jessops a few quid cheaper with the 3% quidco.

Like to buy from Amazon because of excellent customer service but Jessops 30 day return policy is very good - assume every thing has to be as new when returned and OK if shutter count is a few hundred - as it would be after first day?

Been reading a bit on here (lots) and general concensus seems to be the 35mm 1.8 and 16-85 are very good, 70 - 300 is quite good - no way ATM I could get the 70-200.Well those are tne ones I am interested in for now.

I'd suggest the Tokina 12-24 f4, Tamron 17-50 f2.8 and Sigma 70-200 f2.8 to cover the entire range you will need. Second hand the trio is about £830 so real good value for some excellent glass.

Yeah...not my first choice, but my only choice where I live. But to be fair to Steve @ Jessops Ipswich, he has been very helpful and patient with me over the last few months!

Will be using the kit 18-105 at the moment as that's my only option until I have a bit more cash to start my collection of lenses.

But I shall love every moment of getting my head around the D7000 and getting out there and practicing with it :-D
 
Congrats!

Colleague here at work upgraded from a d40 to a d7000 and loves it!



Personally stick it on A mode, dial the f# from lowest to f4 and play loads :)
May need to -1/3 step on exposure oh and try raw once you've started taking shots.... Takes up space, but helps with editting :)
