Hello everyone, Im looking forward to the regatta coming up next month near my university. I know it is not the same as the televised boat race on sunday but I was wondering where do the official photographers go when shooting the boat race? Are they in little boats behind the action? or do they pick a spot and stay there?

The regatta at my university is not as well attended as the boat race (obviously lol) so I have room to move about and take photos from different angles (both sides of the river, bridge etc)

I managed to save up for a new telephoto lens with my university budget lol (nothing fancy) so should come in handy for the race next month.

Support boats, river banks, bridges, and boathouse apron - there are photographers at or on all of them.
 
Thanks for the reply, Are you a regular attender at the boat race then?,....oh wow..must be pretty cool being a boat behind the action. I would be kind of scared with my photography equipment lol!
 
I've never photographed the Boat Race, I just know those that do.
