No
Needs to be pronounced with a soft c, obv.

Not on mnay peoples radar and not photo specialists at all, but have some surprisingly good stock. Prices generally reasonable (some downright cheap), grading has been accurate from my experience. Bad points, sluggish dispatch, no phone comm, all done by email. Good points, 2 year guarantee (although money-back is current selling price after 6 months) and no quibble 48hr (I think) returns. Site is https://uk.webuy.com/

Do you work for them?

You do seem a suspicious lot! What makes it sound pluggy? (Seriously, I'm baffled - of course it is a plug in a way becasue I have bought from them a few times and been generally pretty happy and I think OK suppliers deserve a mention otherwise I wouldn't have posted, but honestly I think it's pretty balanced).

in the last year i have bought a canon 50mm 1.4 a 70-300 mk2 a microsoft surface pro 6 .Sold on to them a 5d mk2 and grip a 50mm 1.8 and my old 100-300L all with no problems the ones i bought from them were in a very good condition and the ones i sold to them were a reasonable price , i sold them on this way as i did not want the mixed problems of the bay selling though i have bought extensively on the bay . So recommend CEX yes i would , also I'm in no way connected with CEX apart from buying and selling to them.

Our lack of experience of YOU as a poster. Registered more than a year, yet only 20 posts, and then recommending a shop considered by many to be the place for disposing of stolen goods.

That's why we are suspicious.

Not. really a photography shop either. (I realise there are people have bought and sold camera kit there)

Has it occurred that I might have forgotten about the forum for a bit ? And I always think the quality rather then quantity of posts is a good indicator.....

Also, I would be surprised if CeX didn't have established procedures for avoiding stolen stuff....they do have quite a number of branches.

And indeed they are not a photography shop, you wouldn't be going in and asking for advice on what to buy!

Before the lockdown I used to browse the photo gear in CEX in Birmingham on my lunchbreak.

Some pretty good deals but when they put camera bodies on show without a body cap and lenses without caps too it rather put me off buying anything.

This is not personal criticism - rather an explanation of why we might be suspicious. Spammers and shills are not unknown here.

I picked up a 75-300mm Olympus lens from CEX online and it was fine. I had a bunch of credit from selling them an old iPhone which they valued very fairly.
Substantially cheaper than the main photography outlets for used lenses. I just kept an eye on the listing and bought when one came into stock.
It was a bit of a gamble as the lens might not have been in great nick but it was and I had the chance to return it if I wasn't happy so no real risk.
The 2 yr warranty is substantially better than most photography places too though I've not had any cause to test it.

You have to register with them to sell and produce photo ID (from memory) that's a reasonable protection, more than you'll get on fleabay or gumtree -pay your money, take your choice.

We have 2 branches reasonably close to us. The kids love it for games etc. but I've generally found the photographic stock very limited. Worth a look while passing (especially if the kids are going in) but I've not yet been tempted.

Not much different from 'Cash converters' (where I have brought camera stuff). Staff have very little knowledge about the gear - didn't know there are 2 different Sony mounts - but I guess you have the chance to check it yourself so they do have an advantage over e-bay. I'm not likely to try either mail order.

Someone tries to help and we have a go at them, come on.

Sounds like a genuine tip and a good one at that so thanks for sharing.

No-one has had a go - just wondered why someone who has no posting history has started recommending a particular dealer.

There does indeed seem to be some bargains in there actual stock ,one to watch

I've used CEX for years now buying and selling games, friendly staff generally! I keep a track online at the local gear in stock.

Yup - also in my bookmarks. I've bought and sold with them (online, never in a shop) and not yet had a problem. Just ordered the WCL adapter for the X100S and it was £30 lower than other used-gear dealer I could find. (Fingers crossed that I haven't jinxed it now.)

Does anyone know if it possible to get the condition of an item if buying online or is it a case of pot luck and return if you don't like it ?

Better for buying than selling I'd say. I've Traded a few things into their stores here in Ireland - they weren't ready to offer very much, I would have gotten a good chunk more selling private but at the time just needed quick cash. The good: the process takes just an hour [in their B&M stores], you drop your gear in and they take an hour to inspect, you call back and once all checks out you get your cash. Only ever traded in phones/tablets/Android boxes, that kind of thing where I wasn't too fussed about the value. I'd never use them to trade in a lens, would buy the right one at the right price though, if there's a CEX store local to you then you can return the item if you find fault.

That's exactly how I've treated it, but never had to return anything (yet). The rating grade - A/B/C - also means that I avoid B/C grade.

Some things are graded A B C etc. and have separate listings - thinking of the Sony RX100 line. https://uk.webuy.com/search/?stext=rx100
Other less popular things don't seem to be - thinking of the Olympus 75-300mm lens I bought. https://uk.webuy.com/search?stext=75-300mm olympus
Their returns policy was pretty generous when I looked and there's a store local to me so if it was faulty I could go in and talk it through.
