Well, that's it, the D300 has, as of 10/09/09, been officially discontinued by Nikon, according to Dave Freeman at CrunchGear.

Time to start seeking out the end-of-line bargains, perhaps?
 
The D300 will go down a a legend the same way as the D200 still is, I cant see prices dropping just yet but as its going to be discontinued the s/h prices will go skywards for a number of years.

Still a fantastic piece of kit to own
 
You may be able to snap a few bargins from bigger retailers, ones that dont appreciate/know the value of a D300, but just slash prices as soon as they go discon.
 
A sad day....



....but a good one because it means we get some more Nikon porn on the horizon when they announce the EOS 7D-crushing D400 :)

Have just launched d300s so i can't see them releasing another camera in that price bracket at the moment it's basically the same as the d300 with video think canon may be safe for a while

advantage Canon it seems at the moment.......come on Nikon, lets have a 15mp D400!!!

I can't see the D300s being in production for more than a year or so, it's just a stop-gap model...
 
2 years on and the D300 is still considered one of the best APS-C camera's around, it only just now were Canon caught up or just beaten it with the 7D.

Nikon going to have to think make the D400 something special like the D300 was back in 2007.
 
I just bought a D300 cos the price is dropping and was told that it is being discontinued, they only have 14 left and that's it :'(
It's what I've wanted since they came out so happy to have got one :D
 
Should definitely be able to get some really good deals on this now its been discontinued, I got my D80 at the end of last year just after it had been discontinued for around £250 cheaper than it previously sold for brand new, and this was from jessops!
 
Hi Sparkoss. How come you think there will be some great deals when there just aint none left anywhere?
 
d400 or will it be the d700x,

im not sure what it will be.. obvously the d300s is now the new d300 and should be around for a couple of years

i just hope the new fx d700 replace uses the md10 battery grip as i would love a d700 or the replace after xmas
