THe D7000 some high ISO shots for you pixel peepers!

Not bad up to 1600, after that its not as good as I was expecting.
Certainly no D700.
 
For a crop camera I think the ISO 12800 shot is very good. I'd say a touch better than a 7D.

My 1Ds (yes, full frame) is probably as noisy if not noisier at its measly max of ISO 1250, than the Nikon is at top ISO. And, because the pixel density is really low, the noise is properly noticeable, rather than being very fine grained.

No idea what chase jarvis was on about saying it was comparable to the D3S.

There's definitely some noise reduction applied to those images.

You've got to admit, it's still pretty good though! I think ISO performance is really coming on well these days. Mind you, if they master black silicon then ISO noise will effectively no longer be an issue apparently.

Paid for Nikon fall-guy who gets to make his "name" by running stuff on brand new gear before anyone else does whilst taking a big pile of $$$$.

If you believe any of this type of release hype then you get what you deserve.

PS Canon do the same!
