The day computers were re-invented

But! Where would we be without Linus Torvalds ?

:p

The day computers were re-invented - Seams a little strong for an OS, try the advent of the integrated circuit or the release of the x86 architecture for proper ground breaking stuff. OSX is a great piece of software but it is hardly re-inventing the computer!

A mac is just a souped up Atari.... and I had an atari so I am a geek :)

Thought this was going to be about the ZX spectrum :)

Computers were re-invented? I think not, Mac's sure, computers, not really. That's like saying computers were re-invented with windows xp.

That title is a bit wrong...

Is is not 'The day that a new mac OS went beta 10 years and a day ago'. Sounds more appropriate that the current codswallop!

Haha, me too, but was yours the 400 or the 800 and did you have 5.25 inch disk drive.:D

AtariST 520 :)
I did have the 800 xl but only for a short while.. once i started getting the magazines i upped to the st..

the first ever atari browser by alexander clause ? was icab (Crystal Atari Browser) was later re programmed for the mac and i think still used today is it?

I can't agree with the re-invention title I'm afraid, neither in the OS (which arguably is computing and not computer and even then not a revolution, but more of an evolution of the NeXT OS, which was an Unix variant) nor in the Mac PC's osX runs on; which are x86 (or x64 if you've got Snow Leopard) based Intel architectures.

with datacorder.. mmmm

edit - that must be about 20+ years ago now.. eek.

I don't want to be too alarming but I thinks it's pretty close to 30.

Of course it's not where all the time went that scares me but how much more I knew when I was 12 than I do now.

I'm not sure that this is re-inventing the computer, just changing the way the software interacts with the hardware, more to the point where would OSX be if it wasn't for UNIX existing before it
