Yes
Wedding venue had changed from reg office to the deep. I have been informed that no flash is allowed and in Dec at 5pm there will be no natural light and am told it is dark. Am just wondering if anyone has experience of the venue and light conditions.

Where in the deep are they actually having the wedding? If its the main restaurant, it faces out onto the humber but has a lot of very large windows, making it a relatively decently lit room. However, if they are getting married further into it (which I'd suspect due to no flash being allowed), the lighting is exceptionally dim and the walls are even painted black.

I need to confirm but I suspect further in. Am told I can use a continuous light source. I am on full frame with 1.4 to 2.8 lenses so can crank the iso up but just wondered how much.

Come to think of it, it'll most likely be in one of the restaurants due to the amount of people there as I can't think of anywhere else apart from those that will have the physical space for tables and chairs (which are already there anyway). If you take the B&G into the actual place itself, theres a few pretty well lit rooms where you could get some very nice shots against an aquarium background, so could get some great results.

yeah continuos lighting would definitely work, but I'd try and it off camera though and illuminate some of the darker rooms, even if its with cheap LED panels. Some light is better than no light... :D

thanks for the info. need to get further details only found out this aft of venue change.

That's a first! A wedding reception where flash isn't allowed - I've heard of it in churches, but never this. Is it not a privately booked room? Can't see why they wouldn't allow flash. But, if it's the case, you'll be shooting high ISO most of the night. No real worries with a D700. That thing can shoot clean to 6400.

I think it will be just the civil service where flash is not allowed as it must be in a room partly surrounded by fish - apparantly the flash send the sharks crackers...........

A constant light source would be good for the B&G shots but keep an eye out for reflections off the tanks. I went a couple of months ago and started of with a Canon 5D3 and 24-105 f4 L lens but very quickly realised the lens would be far too slow for the light so I nipped out and got a 35 f2 and 50 f1.4 which worked much better.

I got this with the 35 f2, 1/100sec and ISO2000. It's been cropped but no other PP and in the outer parts of the shot you can see reflections of people in it. I really can't say I envy you on this one.
