Can anyone explain the difference between these two, apart from the cosmetic side?

This is the lens I'm looking for.
I wonder if I should wait to get the DG version then?
Would there be much difference in IQ do you think?

Unless the price is very different get the DG version IMO. What camera is this for?

Is this to replace the 18-70 you have? Just be sure that you aren't going to miss the wide end.

Kinda is to replace it, but for what they sell for, I'd keep the 18-70 anyway for the wide shots.

Fair enough. You could always get an ultra-wide like a 10-20 to complement it if need be.

Theonly downside of the Sigma 28-70 is the lack of HSM motor. This makes the auto-focus slow and relatively noisy.
