:dummy: The dumbest 7D question ever

Hello folks

Just got my 7D and have a stupid question

Whilst in AI servo mode using the AF on button - do I need to hold it all the time (like back button focussing) or is a one press start and one press stop sort of thing

Haven't had a chance to really use it but out this weekend so wanted to be prepped

Cheers

Rob

You need to hold it in all the time if you want the servo mode/tracking to be continuous, if you lose the target then just release your finger and press it again to pick it back up, in this respect it is no different to using the shutter button. Having said that I often 'bump' the focus to get the right part of the bird in focus (eye/head...) as the target gets nearer.

Roy,

You are a top man - I got a bit confused when it said AF on or could be used for AF stop

Cheers

Much appreciated

Rob

Roy,

Ona slightly different note if I may... jow do you find the difference between the 400mm f5.6 and your olde 300 f2.8?.

How is the 400 on the 7D

Cheers

Rob
