Recently noticed that the auto white balance, for outdoor shots, on my xt5 is throwing a pinkish tinge when imported.

Anyone else and is it time I purchased a gray card?

Have you checked where the red and blue are pointing in WB?
When I was messing with jpeg, I noticed it didn't change when I went back to raw.

My Xt5 did this a little while back. The point on the custom white balance (if that's what it is called) had moved way off centre, resulting in everything looking very magenta. Freaked me out. Not sure how it happened - a glitch or my fat fingers pressing buttons by mistake....

No not moved of centre I am afraid

Also, the same on both calibrated monitors and in both Cap one and DXO.

I am going to give a go at changing my WB based on what I think the conditions need, overcast, sunny etc.

Hmm I assume you've tried different lenses etc. No filters?

Well I can't think of anything else to try, other than purposely shifting the WB just to see if it makes a difference?

Yes, I own the TT-Artisan 17mm (around 25mm equivalent), although I’ve not used it much if I’m honest, but am going to rectify that soon….love the way it renders.

The Viltrox 28mm (fixed) f/4.5 build quality is fabulous, no issues with the auto focus, seems snappy enough.

Mine arrived today. I've been on back to back Teams calls pretty much all day, so I've not really had a chance to check it out properly; but as Peter @macvisual said, it looks very nicely made. I've had the TTArtisan 27mm F/2.8 as well in the past, and I'd say that the autofocus is about the same speed, but a lot quieter.

It really is amazingly small though: here it is on my X-T4 (which has a Smallrig grip on it).

I felt a bit silly buying it because I only sold the TTArtisan 27mm recently (although this cost me less than I got for that, so I've still won in my mind!). It will be handy though for when I can't or don't want to take a camera bag - with this lens my camera will literally fit in a pocket of my work bag.

Firstly, it's a bit crazy how they can actually make a good performance, AF lens so small and cheap! Secondly, it's great that these third party companies are really pushing forward with things.
 
Hmmm, that viltrox 28 f4.5 is tempting as I have a trip to Bulgaria with work next month.. but I already have the TTA f2.8 :thinking:

Tbh, I keep thinking about selling everything ( again ). My x-t20 was supposed to just be a travel camera but has morphed in to my everyday everywhere one… it’s just the focussing isn’t great / accurate for quicker stuff. Not a surprise but I just wonder if I should sell my Nikon stuff which isn’t used 99% of the time…
 
Had a wander round Chelmsford yesterday with some friends from a camera group. Had a chance to play with the Viltrox 28mm. Like it a lot: it's fun to shoot with, the autofocus feels really fast, and it's nice and sharp. All in all I'm very pleased with it. Apart from a bit of straightening and cropping these are pretty much SOOC.

Yeah it looks impressive. I think I’m going to get one and flip the TTartisan; if I’m honest I never liked how it handled and I always thought about upgrading to the Fuji one; but the size of the Viltrox is too good to pass up

Not sure if this tip still works but I posted it on another thread more than a year ago, might be worth a try for anyone not in a rush to order from Pergear.

I quite liked the TTArtisan, it was very sharp but at the same time I thought it had a bit of a filmic look. The Viltrox does feel more fun to shoot with though, although I've only had a few minutes with it so far. I got £90 for my TTA so it shouldn't cost you any money to swap - especially if you apply Barry's tip! :)
