Again not an X100VI, but I do on both of my X-Pro2's - I hate screen marks and it costs so little to preserve its value.
 
Fuji Xt5 Kit Lens Issue

On occasions, my images come out with a mark on them. The lens face and back are clean, and it does not happen with my 70-300 mm.

Can I assume there is fault within the lens itself, and if so is it worth the coat of sending for repair?

If not, a suggested replacement would be appreciated.

Looks like a bit of dust on the sensor to me. Was that photo taken at a high aperture? I'd say before you send anything back, invest in a sensor cleaning kit and give that a go. They're not very much money. Here's the one I have:


And if you haven't done it before, this is a very good tutorial on how to clean your sensor:

Just done the test based on the video and yes, looks like you are correct. Kit on order, Many thanks.
 
First, I try to remove the dirt with a bellows. Only if that doesn't help do I resort to wet cleaning. A suitable magnifying glass is very helpful, as it allows you to locate the particles precisely and means you don't have to take test photos to make sure the sensor is clean. So I had a bit of an issue. The camera was perfect however when I got home I noticed a small scratch on the sensor, so Ffordes did me a solid and reduced the cost of a brand new model down as far as they could. I still had to chuck a few quid their way but a brand new model arrived today. Need to get out over the next few days and try it all out. I have that 100-400, the 18-55 and a Samyang 12mm F2.

How do people find the older 18-55 resolves on the newer 40mp sensors compared to the older models. I've had the X-E3, X-T2 beforehand (and an X100 long ago!).

I've not tried it myself, but every single lens review using an X-T5 that I've seen on YouTube (right down to the cheap TTArtisan and 7 Artisans manual lenses) has said that it works fine with the 40mp sensor.

The X-T5 ships as a kit with the new 16-55 lens, so I'd assume you'll be fine.

I have used older lenses on my XT-50 and honestly they seem to work fine for me.
 
First time out with the new X-T5 and first time using the 100-400 I got at same time.

Thoughts.

AF accuracy and speed over the X-T2 is colossal. Can’t even compare. If you do anything that needs fast AF and precise continuous AF, this is a worthy upgrade.

SOOC JPGs are a quantum shift over the X-T2 sensor. I loved that camera but sometimes the files seemed a bit muddy, this just seems like a transformation into the latest X-Trans sensor.

Everything feels so much more operationally fast.

The App works way better.

That's a very nice sunrise/landscape style capture Adrian, nicely composed & atmosphere with some lovely colours.

The B&W looks flat (the colour image less so). IMO canvas is never very good for high resolution images as the detail gets lost - decent framed print is a different kettle of fish (both in cost and appearance)

Personally I’d get a largish print done of the one you prefer and see what you and your OH think of it - if you like it, get it framed, if you don’t then you’ve not invested too much £££ in a non- runner
