The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Is anyone editing their Fuji RAWs on an iPad? I want to try getting into a RAW workflow, but as I spend all day at a desk for my job would really like an alternative.

It does feel like no tablet app is quite as powerful as Capture One or Lightroom on a 'proper' computer.

Subscription-free apps greatly preferred...

I have the new Affinity on my iPad, and it has all the functionality of the desktop version. I believe the only part that needs a subscription is the AI stuff, which I haven't even investigated.

This looks pretty good but more like Photoshop than something like Capture One or Lightroom. I was hoping for more of an import-in-bulk workflow

Ah, yes I didn’t even think about that side of things.

I’ve imported in bulk straight into the Photos app before, I don’t know if that still works? I used to plug a card reader into my iPad and open the Photos app; it saw the SD card as a location, and I could select the ones I wanted, then tap Import. It would import the jpeg and RAW, and then by tapping it once it was imported, there was an option to view the RAW or the jpeg.

I ordered the X100VI from Cotswold Cameras last Thursday and they said it would take 7-14 days to be delivered. This morning I had an email to say my order is being processed however I turned up to work today and an X100VI had been delivered. Initially I was very excited but I'm not sure if I've got a new camera or an open box return as the menu system is showing a shutter count of 300 (I haven't got an SD card at work to take a shot and verify it) and there's a small mark on the bottom corner, as shown in the photo. I know some cameras come with a few hundred shutter count, and in the case of olympus up to 1k for testing and calibration, but with the 'damage' as well it's got me suspicious and I'm in two minds whether to return it.

I appreciate cameras get knocked about and get marks on, but I do tend to keep my gear pristine which is why I'm tempted to return it, but then I'll be buying a grip which will cover it anyway. Another factor is resale value in the future. Am I just being silly considering returning it just for this?

That looks like a pretty hefty dig to me. In your shoes I`d send it back (if it hadn`t been mentioned in the description).

It looks worse in the photo that it actually is but it's annoying nonetheless.

Return imo

If that strap split ring was on when you opened the box it's definitely not new. I'd return it anyway BTW just for that scuff.

Definitely return it.
Thanks guys, learning that the split rings shouldn't be attached has confirmed my suspicions that it's not new so I have contacted them to return it. They'll be closed now but I hope there's no delay.

@snerkler

Definitely not new, its a previous return (at best). Shoddy dealer experience, happens surprisingly often these days, I had it recently from a well known UK computer component supplier, who supplied me an up market Intel 4 port network card which was pre-loved, its replacement card was the same!! Both sent back, and I'm unlikely to use that seller again.

Yeah it puts you off doesn't it. Looks like I'm going to have to be patient and wait for UK stock, Panamoz are charging more than UK price and I hear mixed reviews about e-infinity.

I've never bought a camera from them, but I've had two lenses from e-infinity and they've been great both times.

I agree if you are buying new, you want it to be new (UK or grey regardless), if you are buying used, then YMMV - if you are desperate for it now, you could make Cotswold an offer (since its used), otherwise wait for UK stock. Park cameras (and others) indicate stocks likely in April, the big boys, WEX, Park, CameraWorld tend to get more allocation than the smaller stores, but they also tend to have more pre-orders..............

Well would you Adam and Eve it, just been on Wex and they have the X100VI in stock so have just ordered it and it's being delivered tomorrow

Hipster Silver or Professional Black?
Hipster of course :ROFLMAO:

I’ve not had the confirmation email yet so I’m not getting excited just yet. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve had a mad influx of orders and can’t fulfil them.

Had confirmation and the delivery email, fingers crossed it's new an undamaged this time ;)

Generally I'd go for all black, but the X100 series looks quite good in silver, my original X100 is Silver and my F was black, much prefer the silver one

Excellent - so is the RX1R for the chop?

Chris have you tried any of the iPad options? I'm in a similar position in that the only laptop I have at home these days is my work one which I can't install software on (or even plug in a USB drive), so wondering if I can do enough via my iPad instead.

I’m like a magpie and like shiny things  For some reason whenever I think of retro cameras I always think of silver and black. The RX1R is off to Harrisons tomorrow.

Whatever stock of black and silver they had have gone :(
Both showing as pre-order now which is different to earlier in the week and previously,
I've looked every day for the past week and Wex have never shown as any in stock when I've checked, but this lunchtime they did. I just hope it's not another OB return :runaway:

I’ve tried both Lightroom and Capture One - they’re probably as good as the desktop versions; but the good stuff is locked behind a subscription. Just not worth it if you’re not a pro in my opinion
All my cameras have been black…even the x100 mk1.
Initially I was dead set on Silver and my first two were silver - and then someone pointed out that they’re pretty conspicuous (nothing shouts ‘I’m taking pictures’ louder than a silver vintage style body!) and since then I’ve really preferred black

Good info, thanks. Out of interest did you manage to use them with your finger? Or from an accuracy perspective do you need an Apple pencil?
