Excellent shots, I can see the sharpness (especially compared with your LM 24 shots on Flickr). Sharpness is very difficult to get past (IMO), once seen you crave for it all the time, its one of the reasons why I was happy to chop in a lot of my Fuji gear for the Leica Q3. A lot of motorsport sharpness coming from decent panning techinique, something which I often lack, I have short periods where I get in the zone and nail it, and other periods where quite frankly I'm hopeless. But nailing it witha sharp less makes the whole thing worth it
I only have the 50-140 and 100-400 and I could see myself losing the 100-400 for the XF200mm (+TC) but I couldn't get rid of the 50-140 as well, quite a lot of what I shoot is at close range (hillclimbs, infield at Oulton) and 200 would be too long. Then only selling the 100-400 doesn't put much of dent in an XF200mm price!!
I'm tempted to get one for an event on the free 48hr hire offer (though there is a £2750 deposit to put down!!)
In your shoes its a very difficult shout, because I would also be considering X-T4 -> X-H2S, and realistically thats about a £1000 (at least) upgrade once you take into account a CF-Express Card. I have found the X-H2S a big step up from the X-T3 (from the blackout free, the fact that I can use ES all the time with no artefacts, and the AF speed) - of course mentioning that doesn't help you!!
Credit Card Blanace Transfer to another card with 0% or very low interest period might help..........
Looks for fingers in ears emojiSensibility has won out. It's going to be sold
Just listed it in the classifieds.
Go on son get in thereLooks for fingers in ears emoji
Mine is fine. The only issue I have with my 50-140 is that if I want to atatch my close focus ring, it's a bit of a tight fit. It's a cracking lens...Question guys,
I’m thinking of purchasing the XF 50-140mm f2.8, but I have heard and read that there is a lot of play when mounted to a Fuji body and that the autofocus is noisy.
Is this the case on both counts, would you still advise on purchasing one today ?

@gad-westy - I'm going to swerve this, thanks for the opportunity, but to buy it, I'd have to sell stuff that I don't want to sell, and I'm not in that head-space at the moment. I'm sure I'll own one at some point but just not at this point!!!
I’d realised that, and it’s something I’m definitely interested in (just not now!), though it is extremely tempting with August offering me Jaguar day, USA Auto Day and the Gold Cup, all at Oulton Park (on my doorstep)Just in case my post was confused as covert marketing, I'd actually only quoted your post as that was the discussion we had about me selling it on. I wasn't specifically singling you out as a buyer. Though of course you'd have been very welcome! I'm going to let it sit on here for a few days but it's perhaps a bit specialised. After that I'll see where I'm at with trade ins. If any issues with that, I might still keep it but it is something of a luxury. A heavy one at that! I should get some pet portraits in before it disappears.

Though I already have the free 48hr trial hire in my basket for the Gold Cup but the deposit is more than your lens!!!
Don’t leave it for sale too long, I might change my mind!!!!
Yep!!!I think as you alluded to earlier, the problem with lenses like this is that once you try them it's going to be difficult to go back. A trial could be a dangerous thing!
I stopped agonising about it a long time ago, now I just ask myself what I feel like shooting with. You'll drive yourself nuts looking at the moon rising over a city and thinking "Oh if only I had my 800mm and 2 x TC, I could get an epic shot of that building silhouetted against the moon" or whatever.
Ultimately, you'll get good photos with what you have. The shots that you can't get with your current kit aren't missed, they simply don't exist.
Edit: My god that last sentence sounds like AI.![]()
There’s alarm bells and my proposed XF200mm hire/loan…….My X-T5 loan has been delayed and won't be arriving until sometime tomorrow so I've cancelled it now as I was planning on going out to use it first thing tomorrow. Disappointing but I guess I'll just have to try it again at some point in the future.
I’m sure it’s just a one off, I’ve never had problems before. I think it’s the currier rather than Fuji that’s caused the delay. There’s alarm bells and my proposed XF200mm hire/loan…….
Nicely done...Monsall Dale?
Thanks, it is indeed. It’s fenced off these days but it’s easy enough to get in (this shot was taken from the ‘correct’ side of the fence).Nicely done...Monsall Dale?
The used market will be flooded with x-t5’s once the 6 is released.I know with cameras when a new version is released the outgoing one tends to have offers, and used prices tend to drop quite a bit but is this true of Fuji? I know the X100's hold their price but what about the X-Tx series? I know there's an X-T6 on the horizon and so am wondering if there'll be some cheaper X-T5's on the market? I appreciate no-one has a crystal ball but what's the trend been historically?

I was in Castle Cameras today (Salisbury), they have a used X-T2 priced up at £800 !!!! No wonder it hasn't sold....This ^ is what has historically happened, pre-loved X-T5's will take a dip in price and then start to harden up once the inital volumes have been re-sold. I suspect this time it will result in a significant number of X-T3's and X-T4's becoming available as users of these 'upgrade' to the 40MP sensor.
There is always a 'clever' time to buy its just knowing what/when it will be.

Close to £500 is you want "like new" from a store.I’m keeping an eye out for an XT2 for my daughter at the moment and it is quite surprising just how much some of this older kit is listed at. Though £800 is crazy! I suspect it’s going to cost me £400+ though which I find tough to swallow for a ten year old camera. It seems this is pretty much the case for all Fuji stuff at the moment. Seen the price of the ‘unloved’ X70 recently? !

Chora (5 of 5) by Graham Norton, on FlickrI too still have an original X100, they were £999 on release but quickly got discounted. On the X100 subject - prices because of Tik Tok have overinflated prices to extremes
I have been shooting with the Fujifilm Finepix X100 since 2011 and it was brand new, I paid £700 for it way back then.
All other variants second hand are absurd. An S version £500 ,T version £700 ,V version £1200, Vi one £1700 - £1900!
Absolutely nuts they aren't worth that and I could easily get £400 for my Finepix X100 original - I still love the results with this 12mp Bayer sensor camera and will never sell
To save me searching what are the focus issues people have reported?I haven’t posted anything here for nearly six months. I didn’t think it had been that long.
Last time was when my T3 fell apart, I replaced it and then sold that as I had brought a T5.
It’s been a great to use. I have the 18 and 33 1.4 lens which are superb, esp low light/gig environments.
I find the T5 a camera very usable. I like using video too and the dial option makes simple flipping between the two.
I’ve not had any focus issues. Nothing as awful as You Tube. ‘Influencers’ have banged on about.
Overall a lovely experience, I’m not in any rush to replace when the T6 arrives.
As far as I know its eye focus/tracking issues and tracking moving subjects. Don't think either are awful but not as good as Sony etc.To save me searching what are the focus issues people have reported

For the record very happy with mine I use eye focus quite often and get approx a 85/90% hit rate but don't really shoot any fast moving subjects anymore so can't comment on that.
But for general everyday shooting any out of focus are 995 user error.

The X-T5 would only be for static shots for me, I'd keep the A1 for sports and wildlifeHaving switched to Sony, it is a noticeable difference - But it's a ridiculously high bar to set. The Sony is practically clairvoyant.
The X-T5 I had, and even the X-T3, were more than enough for anyone who isn't being paid to get the next NatGeo shot of a lifetime. Perfectly fine for sports, motorsports, birds in flight, whatever. You just might miss 3-4 per burst as opposed to 1-2, and that can be framed as "OMG Twice as many misses!".

It’s a kit lens not a £2.5K GM special!!!!!! It’s a good kit lens at that, compact, WR and has internal zoomI ordered the 16-50mm and it makes for a nice light setup, well noticeably lighter than my A1 and 20-70mm anyway, however I have to say it's extremely poor in the corners at f2.8. It's OK at f8 but it's certainly not a lens I'd want to use wide open if I wanted edge to edge sharpness.
I've had a number of kit lenses and I don't recall any being as bad as that in the corners tbh. That's being said I doubt it's a lens that would get used at f2.8 much. It’s a kit lens not a £2.5K GM special!!!!!! It’s a good kit lens at that, compact, WR and has internal zoom
