Just had an old horse hair shoe brush set with nice leather case delivered this morning (ebay), cleaned it all up and thought it looked so nice, it was worth a photo.
Any body out there got any knowledge of what the hallmarks mean?

Very nice indeed! It's made by Birmingham silversmiths W J Myatt & Co, the anchor denoting Birmingham assay office. The lion denotes Sterling silver and the X is the date which I believe is in this case 1922. I'm not sure of the first mark, I've never come across that one but it probably denotes the purity of the silver. Lovely.

Thanks Mick that's really helpful. Not bad for £5.20, thought they were bakelite in the ebay photo they were so badly tarnished but came up lovely with a bit of metal polish, nice item, thanks again.
