Canon 135L 2.0.

Is this not one of Canon’s best but least known lenses? Every forum I’ve been to, the people who has it, rave about it, they often say it’s their best lens in their bag. Yet during normal lens discussions, it hardly ever comes up. Why is that? Is it because a lot of amateur does mostly Landscapes? The 135L is one of Canon’s “cheaper/cheapest” L-glass, just above the 70-400 F/4. It has super quick Auto Focus, pin sharp WIDE open at F/2.0 and gives a smoooooth creamy bokeh. There are no other lens that compare to this in the lens line up except the 85mm 1.2 but that costs twice as much at around £1.5k. Considering the price and what you get with the 135L, this lens is something of a bargain IMO.

Or…is it too a specialist lens to warrant the purchase for most people?

probably that.

I can't think of any use I'd have for a prime 135mm lens, too long for indoors, to short for outside

On a crop camera its equivalent to about 200mm which tbh is not the best length lens, neither one thing nor the other. I'd presume it has limited use regardless of how good it is.

its perfect and one of my favourite lens, Ideal for going on a 2nd body for football. 135mm is ideal for upto the edge of the box and to within 2-3 metres you can still get two players filling the frame. very sharp and very quick to focus. good length for indoor sports too :D

sounds like as well as truly amazing lens for portraits, it'd a great lens to have on second body for gigs too...if nikon did one of these without it being the uberbux defocus one, I'd be all over it like a rash

know what you mean, I feel the same about my 100mm F2 (and that's not even an L), though since I got the 28-70 f2.8L it's mostly stayed in my case - must get it out again

I think it is because most people use crop bodies and it is a bit too long on a crop. they prefer 50mm or 85mm primes (since 85x1.6 = 136mm on canon bodies)

I have one for indoor sport use, lovely and sharp plus its great in the dire lighting I encounter at this time of year.
