Greetings troops,

One of the main things I read about are how clients receive a CD once a shoot has been completed and paid for. This being part of the shoot price.

The CD consists of 15-20 (or more, price dependent) photos placed as a slideshow. This can then be used by the client on their PC/Mac.

For those of you that use this method, do you somehow protect the CD so the client is unable to rip the photos off it? Is there a magical software out there that does it for you?

Any thoughts or ideas or methods on this is greatly received. Thanks for reading.

Kind regards :)

The title was meant to read "customers"! :)

Print screen was exactly what I was thinking too Neil. Watermarking the images seems the way forward but if the CD is all they want then I suppose the price would have to reflect that.

indeed. you have to weigh up what you could potentially get for the prints on the CD if you were to print them.

we do an event package that we put up to 10 jpg on disk for £30 (£3 for each additional) unwatermarked but sized to 7x5. our 7x5 event shots are £9ea. its a better deal in the customers eyes for the CD but really they wouldnt buy 10 7x5's so we're quids in.

Neil it didn't even occur to me to size the images. (noob). Resizing makes perfect sense actually.
I take it the technology to "blow up" a photo of that size would still dramatically decrease the IQ then?

i recrop them in PS ast 7x5 and 300dpi if they really wanted to they could probably print them larger to what they would call an acceptable standard. but again the level of profit on them buying the CD over what id normally see on prints is worth the risk.

i do put a PDF on the disk also saying theyre only licenced for printing at 7x5 if a lab was given the CD, doesnt stop them doing the print themselves though or transferring to USB stick.

Thanks for that Neil. Very informative and useful information. I will prep a PDF and then have a play with PS and resizing.

Thanks for your time mate :)
