As the newer MkII version is as UK sourced stubbornly sticking at the £1999 price the other option is of course the grey market using the reputable outlets (they do seem to get good reviews) such as HDEW.
Now I have a MKI version to sell and have seen that there appear to be a number coming onto the market with prices like £650.............no idea whether folk are getting those prices (more research perhaps..............but life is too short
) whereas part exchange value seems to be max £400 for the best condition ones.
So the dilemma is ~ go the part exchange route and in effect get the MKII for £1599 or go the grey route and pay approx. £1650 and hope to get a decent private sale monies of say £550 to 600???
FWIW unlike grey market bodies the lens carry Canon international (i.e. not geographical market specific) warranty so Elstree would service/repair it without a hesitation.
Having typed this perhaps what I thought was a dilemma is more a 'no brainer' i.e. buy it grey and sell the MKI privately..........................but how long would I be stuck with it???
