ive got a bit of a dilema.

I currently have a 5 year old PC and a 2 year old PC laptop.

Now the PC i currently have has been running slow of late and is starting to show signs of its age, its freezing up and having issues now and then, also its running lightroom slowly and when editing large groups of photos im having to close and reopen it :(

The PC is:

AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core 2.21
3.25 GB RAM
Win 7.

My question is.......

Should i buy an iMAC or a Macbook PRO? Im looking at replacing my computer that i edit at (spec above), so im leaning towards the iMAC, but i love the idea of having a Macbook PRO? Im then planning on turning the above computer into a NAS using all of its existing hard drives as backups/home storage.

Will it be useable as a nas with a MAC ?

With a screen connected will the Macbook PRO be okay for hours of editing or should i just go for the iMAC? Afterall i can use my laptop for tethered shooting when i need it....

Are you set on getting a mac of some description? There are some very nice laptops out there that are cheaper than the Mac options (I've just bought an i7 quad core/full HD display/8G/750G HDD/separate graphics Dell which I'm in love with for £930).

If you're set on a Mac, no problem but thought I'd ask....
 
Tom I have a pretty high spec MBP for sale on here. ;) It's a bit too big for my travels.

It runs LR and PS very well so I can recommend a MBP if you want to go that way. I have no idea about iMacs though.

that acer is a MBP busting spec also
