The New Panasonic G2

SRP = £699

Fotosense (and others) have it for £570 with the new 14-42mm lens (no metal mount, no OIS button on lens).

GF1 in a G1 body, with touchscreen LCD (gimmick ?) from what I can tell.

Looks like it does a lot right (for casual users), though a lot to learn that's only applicable to the one camera. If the cleverer AF bits work quick enough for fast action I'll be surprised as it's something you usually need a D3/etc for!

Godawful CG solid model on that video, really cheapens my impression of Panasonic.

Interesting. Wonder if it'll push the price of the G1/GF1 down...

G1 price has already gone down a lot - £310 now with the 14-45 lens with cashback. Don't know if the GF1 will go down until the GF2 is imminent.

I don't think I would be that tempted by the G2 really - though one improvement not always mentioned which could be handy is I think it will autofocus a lot more 4/3 lenses than the G1/GF1/GH1.

I had a phone call from a friend of mine who works in a local camera emporium. They now have the G2 in stock, I might have a look but doubt if I will get one. But then again I could be wrong.;)

Would that be through a change in the firmware on it?
