Oooh you must have an expensive camera think of this:

A professional photographer, at a friend's house for dinner, was asked to show his portfolio from a recent overseas trip.
His friends were quite impressed.
"What wonderful photos!" said the host's wife. "You must have a very expensive camera."
The photographer just smiled and waited until after dinner, when he said, "Thank you for the delicious meal. You must have very expensive pans!"

Im getting so tired of hearing this quote/comment on forums and the such.
People with an appreciation of good images, art. may not understand the whole process of creating a "piece" be it a photograph, painting, sculpture or a shark in fromaldehyde. That's not their fault, most don't even care. This is the reason comments like this are made, its a lack of understanding and the need to pay some kind of compliment other than "ooh that's nice"
I believe its the professionals/artisans duty to not be up their own arse and be a little more gracious about things, not fire comments back like "you must have really nice pans, cooker" or "you must have brilliant spanners my car runs great now"

Oh I read it as a funny way of saying, what always gets battered round here, its not only the camera that does the work but more so the person pressing the button.
same as a good set of pans will not make a good meal.

Take it my sence of humour is slightly different to the ones above.

'I say you do have a splendid .........!' Why thank you, feel free anytime to have a go?

Does anyone really care?

I did, in my teens. Had quite a collection but grew out of it. "Too much theory and not enough practical" and all that.

O, you mean the original post? :D
