Well I went out yesterday to get a compact due to a trip to Wembley on Saturday as I don't think they let me in the ground with my DSLR.

I went in to Tesco and was dazzled by this lovely looking blue camera, it was the coolpix 3100s.

What can I say about this camera? I took around 10 pictures with it and then took it back and got a full refund. I can honestly say that I find it difficult that company such as nikon would dare to unleash this on the world.

PS Ive now got a Lumix FX70 which was half price in PC world and cost 129 quid.

And as a little note when you go shopping in there or currys alway see if you can find some where where you can price match them. They had a Panasonic S3 which was 160 quid but comet were knocking it out for 100. I asked them to price match it and they did, then they knock 10% of the difference from the price as well

Don't buy any Coolpix models (and this is from a Nikon user). Look at the Panasonic Lumix or Canon IXUS/PowerShot range for very good P&Ss, or the Canon G-series for the top end models.

I had a Nikon DSLR before my canon so I didn't think I could go far wrong with coolpix. How wrong I was!!

Their interfaces are a bit clunky - and especially being a Nikon DSLR user - was generally just disappointing. You can try them out for yourself, you may like them (these are all subjective things, after all), but my recommendation for almost any price range is still the Lumix/PowerShot/IXUS cameras.

Buy one, try it for a few hours and then take it back and get a refund. This way you can see if you like it or not. I thought it was rubbish. Ive now got a nice little lumix which seems far far better.

The best place to get it from is Tesco. tell them youve bought it back because your kid didn't like and its for there birth day
