i guess with most things will try and get the best for budget which means £500

in store places would be preference, for ease to return if any issues (and for me quidco cash back would be a bonus)

I looked at a packabell and then was told graphic card was rubbish.

I'm thinking 15.6 inch screen minimum, 4GB Ram preference, harddrive space (not to much worry on this), decent graphic card (but i don't understand what's good or not), and intel icore 3 or 5 minimum

Ebuyer had a decent Samsung R730 for about £529 the other week. 17 inch screen and i3 CPU.

Alternatively, there are some cheap deals at the moment on the Lenovo Thinkpad edge 15, you can get £100 cashback making them about £350.

I wouldn't get a Packard Bell or Advent or whatever else from PC World, nasty horrible machines.

Stick to Asus, Lenovo, Samsung and Toshiba. Dell have good specs but the Inspiron's aren't as nice as the Latitudes.

thanks

will take that on board
