Evening all.......A new member to the forum, and am going to jump right in with a question....
What is the best lens for my EOS 300D to fully capture all a landscape has to offer?

Well Im new to landscapes but Id say you need to check out some wide angles.
The lens that was recommended to me was the 17-40 f.4L which Ive recently bought.
If you use the search facility here you may find theres some fine examples of what it can do.

Sorry to dissapoint here, but there isn't one.

General consensus with landscapes is you need wide. FOr the most part I totally and completely agree. And the 17-40L is a very good choice, although on a crop camera I personally did not get on with it because it was not quite wide enough - and was not quite long enough.
I have had the 17-40L, the 10-22mm EF-S and I am now finally happy with my Tokina 12-24mm for the wideangle stuff. Along with a few ND grads to - a must for landscaping
But there is more. Sometimes a landscape is better when you isolate parts of it - so a long lens is needed there, something starting as a 70-300mm would do the trick. And if you feel the need to fill the gap a nice 24-70 (or 28-105) will do nicely.
Oooops, ended up with three lenses there. When I go out to do landscape work I take three lenses becaus there is never one lens that will do everything I want.

I had been managing recently with a Canon 24-85 for landscapes but although a good lens it was definately not wide enough. I have gone with Sigma 10-20 (crissie pressie) and also Sigma 15-30. Both seem sharp and contrasty and well built and a lot cheaper than the Canon or Nikon offerings for those on a tight budget.

I am going to add the Sigma 10-20mm to my lens collection.
Along with the 18-70mm and 70-300mm lenses I have that covers most eventualities.
Only had the 10-20 for a couple of days (present for christmas) but I am very impressed with the level of sharpness and built quality, OK not 'L' lens but still looks great. The 15-30 I use on my Nikon and this also shows great potential.
