The routing for an Amazon order.....very odd???

I am used to some orders coming from another EU country (latterly Germany and Spain) but this one is a tad more odd.

I ordered a very simple item, a pack of jumbo paperclips, thinking as in common with many such small orders it would come from an unnamed depot in the UK and progress to the local delivery agent as needed.

However, the routing so makes no sense........why the heck did it go from Manchester to Dublin and then back to the UK to Merseyside......it is 18 miles from Irlam to St Helens.....so why the trip to Dublin

The only reason I can think of is customs. The original delivery update does not state any customs check. Maybe Manchester customs couldn't/wouldn't take it in, so it had to go to the nearest available [Dublin] to be cleared, before being sent back? I mean, it's still silly, but only reason I can see. Though it looks to have gone through double customs at both Dublin and Manchester ...

I had a weird thing with Amazon.fr a few days ago, where I wanted to order some plumbing fittings because the bricos don't have them in stock. The item initially showed delivery in 3 days, so I put 4 I'm my basket and at the point of ordering it had changed to 4 weeks.

Emptied the basket, back to the item: 3 days. This time showing 3 days FOC with prime. Accepted 30 day prime trial, 4 in the basket, 4 weeks. Empty basket.

Back to the item, 3 days.

You may have figured by now as I did, that it was the number ordered that changed the delivery time. 3 in the basket, 3 days. 4 in the basket, 4 weeks. Bought 3 , then an additional 1.

They arrived together today, delivered by La Poste. Nuts.

The vagaries of logistics. All in stock for Amazon but probably coming from different countries.

All of my Amazon deliveries, to Tyneside end up coming from Carlisle! Yet we have 3 Amazon Centres here within a few miles of me.
