Unbelievable, what a ****. I hate people like that. Sounds like you had a terrible time.

Yeah, I am a confident yet quiet guy, 37 years old but when I got back to the office, I had to ly down, I was really quite put out by it. Totally phased. Hard to explain.

Sounds like an awful time you had :(

A photographer I do the odd job for is Ricky's family photographer, and gets on with the family very very well....I'm just waiting for him to get married (and hope I get asked to work it)

Dont let em read this. Can you PM me?

i beleive this is a trend in that industry, the "Star" is completely fine with most things but there support behind them are the arse's.
You hear about it all of the time on the radio where people say "we tried to book you the other month" and the reply is always "I never heard anything about that, i'd have come on sooner"
Pointless overpaid scum...

There are some real ****s out there who do this. I know a few bands get you to sign a release before you can photograph them. I walk away because I absolutely hate this tactic. Can't believe they took your camera. Take it easy dude, don't let them get to you too much :) Happy Xmas dude.

Sorry to hear you had a bad time Pete.
It's always the same, the celebs are fine, but its the hangers on that are the tawats.

You can understand a boxer being a bit over sure of himself, thats part of the game, but when you end up getting treated in the way you did its a real shame.

Regards Spence

The question is: "did you get the shot?"

Yeah, got what I needed by asking Ricky to smile for me. Cheesy but it works!

You did get the camera back? Frank Warren is Hatton's manager isn't he?

Just delete all the pics in front of them and tell them to get knotted, go home and card recovery! job done, if they want pics they can afford to bloody pay for them.
I wouldn't touch his wedding, can you imagine the panic the minders will be over that and Hello or Ok magizine getting one over on them! be more trouble than the worth of it.

Did he have scars on his knuckles?

It is from where they drag on the ground when he walks..........

You got the shot.

Scary experience mate! I'm the last person to give way to intimidation, but when you're confronted by a room full of boxing types, if it gets nasty - you're gonna get hammered - end of. I'd like to think I wouldn't have let go of the camera, but what we think we'd do and what we actually do are two different things, and I wasn't there, but I know how easy it is for your bowels to turn to water in that situation, and it's usually a good healthy survival signal.

These guys are surrounded by largely ex- punchers, and they're often not the brightest knives in the drawer, but they can grasp that they have to squeeze the most they can out of their meal ticket, before they end up as punch bags for the next contender. ;)

I really hope that doesn't happen to Hatton, he's a great entertaining fighter, but he was way outclassed by the yank in his last fight. He's been talking about turning to promoting, so good luck to him if he does.

That's him alright....

Spot on observation too. Hatton seems to have the gift of comic timing and spent an hour talking to the crowd about his past. Often having them laughing out loud. However, a one trick pony can only tell the same stories for so long. I love Lee Evans but by the 5th time I saw him I thought 'I know this one'. I do however wish him all the best but no one else.

At least you lived to tell the tale Pete, and got the shot to boot.

I have to say im not that sure you have done the right thing by slating the guy on a public forum.

I have had many a dealing with clients good and bad and despite the bad ones being obnoxiuos, pushy and a whole host of other words i could use i would have to say that i would not complain about them on a public forum whilst posting the pictures to (also not great imho). Could you imagine having a wedding client who for whatever reasons was a right bridezilla and then she found out i had slated her on a forum along with the pics, i dont think she would be to happy and nor do i think i would get any referals from her.

Good jobs come and go and so do bad ones and we have to deal with them the best we can, have a moan yes but for Gods sake (no for your sake) dont post the pictures and then slate the guy and his "gorillas" whilst calling them knobheads and intimidators :nono:

Last time i shot Ricky he was pleasant and no one batted an eye lid :D.

WHEN you read this Ricky dont forget im still available for your wedding:D:D

Sounds to me that the wrong bloke has been in the ring all this time.

A) that he sounds so aggresive and volatile that he might in fact do well

B) that someone might punch his lights out repeatedly if he was as much of a plonker there as well :woot:

I'm sure Ricky is a nice guy. I worked arond Hattersley a few years ago a dn the locals have nothing but nice things to say about him.

What the OP is saying is that whoever was sorting things out for Ricky was not portraying the same image. Now if Ricky is switched on, then he knows and condones that his people act this way. Fair enough, if that is what he wants. And if that's the case then he won't be bothered by what has been said on here.

And If he is not aware, then maybe it will open his eyes and he will stop it happening again. I would have thought in this case he would thank the OP for raising it here and not in a national newspaper.

Either way TBH I'm sure he has bigger things to worry about than what is said on here (and no offence meant to anyone else posting on here).

So whilst I think Pete is perfectly right in expressing on here how he felt in a given situation, I think it is a bit lame to join to post to keep in someones good books, no matter who they are and what they do. As the children's book says "everyone eats, so everyone poohs". If you wanna ride on someones coat tails, fair enough. But Pete doesn't, he wants to do what he wants to do, and if he has to deal with famous people on the way I'm sure he will. But that doesn't change the fact he doesn't want to be disrespected or work in uncomfortable surroundings. By informing people on here it may help them to stay in a position where they feel safe (at no time am I suggesting anyone would not be safe - OK), and so not have to go through the same thing.

And the fact you stay anonymous speaks volumes.

I think Lawrie29 that what the op is saying is:

"Yesterday I had the utter displeasure of meeting Ricky Hatton on a job I was booked to cover"

was it Ricky's fault

"However, in stepped his 'manager, promoter, agent, minder, gorilla' one man wrecking crew"

"He demanded that I hand over all images of Hatton at the end of the evening"

was this side of business not sorted out prior to booking and accepting?

"He also questioned my motive for wanting to take pictures of Hatton 'at the gym'. When I told him I was a photographer, I take photos, it went up a notch"

doesnt surprise me if this was your attitude, surly a calmer approach and to try and justify the shots you were looking for would have been a better approach/answer

"The worst thing was the total and utter physical intimidation of the man. He made me very nervous and I could not get my words out"

sounds like the op was saying he was physically threatening in which case he should have either phoned the police and informed the event manager he was leaving or even both.

"He took my camera as I went to find the said compliment slip."

thats theft unless you handed it over in which case that would be damn right foolish can we assume he didnt steel it therfore the op was foolish.

Now im not out to have a go at the op here i just feel that there are better ways to represent your proffesion than blurting out on a public forum when things havent gone your way.

Calling your clients names like gorilla, one man wrecking crew, Probably the most awful person I have had the displeasure of meeting, bunch of muppets, hangers on, knobheds, abject fools, his outfit is a joke,

is a bit to far and you should get a pro grip of yourself imho
still baffled as to why you say "Yesterday I had the utter displeasure of meeting Ricky Hatton on a job I was booked to cover"

seems like it was his crew if you ask me

I for one would like to know how you came to find this thread? and why you remain anonymous, how can we take you seriously?

The way this 'gorilla' handled things was way over the top it seems to me, and you seem to think all is well in the world, if we knew who you were (you sound like Ricky's mum) then we would know where you were coming from, perhaps you are family? as you sound very biased, this sort of behavior may be the way of the boxing world, but this was not a boxing match was it? and nobody should have been made to feel intimidated. But this is what money does to people isn't it!

still baffled as to why you say "Yesterday I had the utter displeasure of meeting Ricky Hatton on a job I was booked to cover"

his crew is his responsibility as he employs them

You very conveniently left out these words:

The funny thing is that he seemed like a nice bloke. Dont know him what so ever, but had a chat, took some pictures and that was that. I said it would be great to head to Manchester to take some sportrait shots of him and he said that would be fine. Brief but nice.

It's all very well to say that the OP should have called the police, but if you're the one being intimidated it's not that easy to think straight That's the whole point of intimidation.

"Yesterday I had the utter displeasure of meeting Ricky Hatton on a job I was booked to cover"

was it Ricky's fault

Well, yes. they are in his employ and are therefore his responsibility.

Calling your clients names like gorilla, one man wrecking crew, Probably the most awful person I have had the displeasure of meeting, bunch of muppets, hangers on, knobheds, abject fools, his outfit is a joke,

The client was Ricky AFAIK and the Op did state that he was a nice guy, it's just a shame that his reputation is being tarnished by his employees who are supposed to represent him. Maybe they were in their way, trying to protect him and his interests at the same time but IMHO the way they conducted themselves was way OTT.

bet you haven't been round to Ricky's house for tea and crumpets

Ricky's mate - Get a life:thumbsdown:

DG never once slagged off Hatton, just his hanger on gorilla plonka that sounds like the kind of faeces that I deal with on a regular basis. This is a public form yes and we are entitled to our opinions, DG explained quite well i thought that the main man came across well but the support act was a washout - quite simple really.

Intimidation comes from bullies and the fella who did the intimidating is no doubt a coward, although hard as nails no doubt, but someone who knows that and uses it to coerce and intimidate is a coward.

Business wise, Hatton may be being over protected by a dimwit or more likely the dimwit knows that if he makes more money for hatton, he gets more in his wage packet, Hatton may not know that or may chose to look the other way. I don't know and keep my opinions of him to myself - until I have met him then i will comment if i wish - much like DG.

DG if you want to let me have that D3 I will be your body guard;) My gang is much bigger than his:thumbs:

Don't feed the troll!

agghhhh the inevitable back up the big poster

Troll? i just have an opinion like the rest of you

and fyi i have never been round to Ricky's for tea or crumpets.

Why do some of you p***ks decide to come out of the wwodwork and back up a man who CLEARLY does not represent your proffesion at all:thinking::thinking:

the guy may well have said somewhere amongst his moan that Ricky was a nice bloke but maybe your choising to avoid the fact that he also said he had the displeasure of photographing him yet clearly Ricky was ok with him.

"I for one would like to know how you came to find this thread? and why you remain anonymous, how can we take you seriously?"

its called the internet and as for remaining anonymous its because this site allows me to and also because unlike the op i would not link my business name with such appaling business behavour.

Can you REALLY justify a pro photographer acting like this? or are you just sticking up for your forum buddies:cuckoo:

Backing up a big poster? - No

Responding when my knobjocky radar activates? - Yes

Sorry for the language mods. No more snacks for you trollster!

I think he's one of these mates Ricky doesn't know about.
