Theory - three lenses

not fussed for some reason over sigma and got a canon not a nikon so pretty much none ;) sorry for the pun :D

Doesn't it depend what you want to take photos of? Or am I missing something somewhere?

It depends what you need it for, but if you just want to blow the money for a good lens (a few of us do that), then:

1. Bigma - good reach, rubbish IQ. Rubbish.
2. 150mm - well regarded, sharp macro (never tried one). Maybe Nikon 105mm VR instead?
3. 30mm. Mixed feelings - fast and sharp in the centre, really poor corners. OK for gigs.

You may also consider Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4 and so on. 200mm f4 (non-VR I assume) will cause lots of pain and frustration due to shake, and f/4 and fixed length. 200mm f/2.8 L USM is no joy for that reason, let alone f/4 MF. 50mm f/1.2 has rave reviews, but how good are you at MF in poor light with hair thin DOF, and your viefinder is only optimised for f2.8.
