I had a discussion the other day with he who must be obeyed and he asked me to rate how much time on TP is spent reading, responding and learning and how much I spent socialising.

Actually it's a lot more of the former. The amount I have learned from here is undeniable and I have to say that almost every day I pick up a little nugget.

Just since yesterday I have learned how to better regulate the output from my two external flashguns. I have also learned that in low light conditions I can deliberately underexpose by a stop to get the shutter speed up a bit more and then pull it back in PP. Better a slightly pulled back shot than a blurred one.

I've been kicking around here for a year and almost every day I learn a little more.

For that I am eternally grateful.

Thanks, each and every one of you and to Marcel, (The Birthday Boy )and the other owners and Mods, I think you have created a monster...........:D

 It is something that is very helpful. Whilst its great for the social aspect too, I think it challenges you photography wise, because theres always a shot that you think wow, I wish I could take that - and then again theres always so many questions being asked and so much to learn!

Some web forums are great, and this is one of them :) I've been around photography for 40 years, and I've learned something new even in just the last hour. There's always something new to know, and I love that.

On the other hand, some web forums are not so good. I've really gone off DPReview lately and while there's surely lots of good stuff on there, the signal to noise ratio is so damn noisey it's just such hard work. The site is just too big and bickering Americans never shut up :D

I only found this site the other day - i don't know how old it is - but I'm impressed with the signalto noise, and the busy-ness of it. Still trying to get around it finding the best sub forums and lurking a bit to get to know the posters :) In good old usenet tradition.

Hi i have gained more than i have given, so much to learn and a great site to learn from so many great people on here you can not help socialise in a loose way with people the ban-ta is a life saver as well, i would spend more time in off topic but there is so much to read it keeps me busy for most of the day and night.
