Hey Guys,

What do you do with your camera gear when your in the house?

I have a nifty, 17-55 and a 430ex, just thinking of things to do when I am bored at home?!

Things in cheap lemonade (for the bubbles) such as watches, coloured pencils etc.

I keep meaning to do this after seeing some good results on there.

Do some zoom burst on the TV, get the right picture on you like, maybe an advert with a colourful item and set narrowest aperture/slowish shutter and zoom back.

clean everything?

do a nice long exposure on a watch?

try a bit of light painting?

turn off all the lights and do a see no evil, speak no evil, see no evil thingy?

get yourself a jenga set and do a strobe shot of the collapse?

Make an inventory catalogue of your house contents for insurance purposes. Photograph everything, organise the results, make backup copies, put it somewhere safe hoping you'll never need it.

Is that what you need to do if you have insurance?

I have insurance with Endsleigh.

When you say photography everything, just the product itself?

Thanks.

Look back through your and practice your PP skills?

Get your baubles out.

No you don't "need" to do it. It would just be useful, should you happen to need to claim, to be able to show an assessor what you've lost. I did it ages ago and keep meaning to update it. I took photos of individual items that had some value and general shots of areas. For example, I have seven shelves of dvds so I took pictures of batches of them on the shelf, as opposed to each individual dvd. Dvds are a top choice for burglars, for some reason, after cash, credit cards, jewellery etc.

As well as serving as a memory jogger when compiling a list of stuff that may have been stolen/burned, it shows the assessor that you're not padding out your claim with imaginary items.

I think he must have got half way through taking pics of his DVD collection.. and then he stumbled upon one that he'd forgotten he had :naughty:

I struggle alot when stuck in the house trying to find stuff to photograph but anything macro orientated is your best bet.

Or as others have said, forget about togging and do something else. Me ... I like watching stoner movies even though I can't go near the stuff lol. Harold and Kumar anyone?!

Do you think they'd notice if I photoshopped 10 D700's on to my shelf?

Have a bash at water drops... that should kill a few days at least.
