Damen
This is my latest and most ambitious digital painting of a Chicago scene unveiled at Photoshop World in Miami on March 22, 2006.
It is a panorama of the Damen Station on the Blue Line of the Chicago Transit Authority.
Adobe Illustrator was used for generating the majority of the basic shapes as well as all the buildings in the Chicago skyline.
The rest was created in Photoshop.
• The image size is 40 inches by 120 inches.
• The flattened file weighs in at 1.7 Gigabytes.
• It took eleven months (close to 2,000 hours) to create.
• The painting is comprised of close to fifty individual Photoshop files.
• Taking a cumulative total of all the files, the overall image contains over 15,000 layers.
• Over 500 alpha channels were used for various effects.
• Over 250,000 paths make up the multitude of shapes throughout the scene.

• The image size is 40 inches by 120 inches.

Thats over 1m x 3m!!

A photo would have been so much easier ;) Respect for that much effort & patience

It's absolutely brilliant but.....2000 hours  Thanks for the link.

regards

wow, 2,000 hours. i wonder how long it took him to learn the techniques!

Why would somebody spend that amount of time on such an uninteresting subject?

Well photography and art, amongst many things are very very subjective.
One mans scribble is another mans masterpiece. Who's to say flowers, or landscapes, or portraits, or macro shots aren't uninteresting subjects?

You think thats good Photochoppery?

These are two of my favourite bookmarks.

Just too good some of these Artists. Had a friend who took up Graphic Design when he left school. He was absolutely brilliant with the miniature spray guns. Once did a picture of Maryln Monroe that I swore was a photographic.

Anyway he went to London to get a job, but after seeing others portfolios in the interview room, just walked out.....he said there were dozens of people who were even better than him.

Must admit I'm impressed by the guys who get their chalks out & create a picture on the old sidewalks.
