Thinking about Upgrading from 400d to 550d

I am currently thinking about upgrading my Canon 400D to the 550D and would like some learned opinions on my questions......If i do upgrade will the external battery/grip pack (BG-E3) I have on the 400 fit the newer 550?....Apart from the Megapixel gain what are your opinions on the quality gain in terms of picture quality etc etc :thinking::thinking:
 
What are you looking for in an upgrade? If you like the form factor and the ergonomics of your 400D then 550D or 600D is a logical step up and should provide a noticeable improvement in image quality particularly in low light due to more modern efficient sensors.

If however, you want a more robust build quality, better responsiveness and control, as well as brighter pentaprism viewfiinder, check out the 40D, 50D, 60D, 7D or 5D. You can find a used 40D for just over £300 easy.

No. They use the BG-E8.

You'll get a jump in ISO ability, a smaller jump in autofocus ability and some image "scale" (more megapixels in the same area). How about some better glass?
