Third party batteries for Nikon DSLR

Hi all,

I'm just wondering if anyone one has had any problems with the cheap third-party compatible Nikon batteries off places such as eBay? Don't know if it's really worth paying the extra for the genuine Nikon batteries?

Only reason I ask is because I read a warning on Nikon's website not to use third party batteries, but not sure if anyone has actually experienced problems with them.

Thanks.

Thanks guys, yeah I mean I've used 3rd party batteries before and they've always performed really well for me and these only cost me about £5 each. Just was worried in case eventually they may cause damage to the camera.

Thanks.

I wouldn't risk it, the price is surely tempting but putting in a knock off battery into a £500 piece of equipment is not ideal for me.

Are you finding you need a second battery?

I've used 3rd party batteries from the beginning...when cameras first started using batteries there was no such thing as an OEM battery :D.

Of all of them I've ever used I've only had one die (for the D4) and I can't revive it. A common "issue" IMO is that they generally seem to be described as better than they really are (mah).
