Do you guys use a third party strap with you cameras or do you use the one supplied??

If third party what is your preference?

Third party - TP branded Op-Tech ones. The neoprene spreads the load way better than the original ones and doesn't advertise the brand and model to those behind me.

I use the original canon strap from my 500n as it's way more comfortable than the current eos digital strap I find. So not the original but still a canon.

Black Rapid RS-4 for me, although there are newer versions now.

I also have a Hama strap which is very comfy.

I prefer 3rd party as I don't like the heavily branded Canon straps.

Optech pro classic, much more comfy than a Canon cheese wire.

Sadly I don't like the newer Optech style, yeeuk :D

I used an optech for years, but was always uncomfortable with the quick release buckles on it - I never liked that there was the possibility of it coming undone and my camera falling to the ground, or that a thief could undo it and be off before I could react.

I now use a Crumpler Industry Disgrace strap, in black (they do a bright red canon branded version...).

I dislike branded straps, particularly the current canon ones - they have writ large upon them "CANON" "DIGITAL" "EOS 7D" etc... A great way to attract unwanted attention.

My parents and my partner all prefer the canon pro style strap, which is narrower and more flexible than the standard canon straps, with just a 6-8in section of larger width for the back of the neck. Thankfully they're not quite so loudly emblazoned with branding...

3rd party Kata.
Don't want my camera name and model in bright yellow letters advertised to the world.

I used original strap for quite some time, but then I bought Domke made strap. It feels much better and best thing about it - no Canon written on it.

Nikonians badged Op-Tech strap here ~ sorry, got it before I found TP :p

I use a Nikon AH-4 hand strap (genuine & not the cheap/wanna be versions) - I prefere it to the nikon neck strap thats supplied...

Its expensive altou there is a version II of it flying around on ebay...

Third Party Op-Tech strap for me. I've also got a LowePro strap on my other camera. Saying that the cameras normally on a monopod so I don't tend to use the strap much.

I use a comfort strap (one with neoprene) like this one

I use these on both cameras for a reason different to others ...... i like the way i can detach the strap and have a smaller carrying strap - much less bulky and nice when i dont want a strap in the way

LOLZ at the description on the Crumpler website

Most camera straps try to re-shape the back of your neck. Not this ergonomic puppy. Weightlifter wide, thick like a weathergirl and with a double layer neoprene neck cushion, its body-hugging contours distribute the mass of your camera evenly across your shoulders.

I should do a review of it sometime... in summary a padded strap for those who don't like the bounciness or the quick-releases of the op-techs.

It looks well-padded: http://www.amazon.com/Crumpler-The-Industry-Disgrace-Black/dp/B001K2GRYA. Is it available in the UK - I can't find it anywhere.

I use the Optech Pro but agree the quick release catches could be vulnerable to thieves (although they're very handy if you want to ditch the shoulder section). http://www.morrisphoto.co.uk/ProductDetails~man~Optech~productID~5946~categoryid~247.html

Manufacturer's straps are pretty hopeless.

I couldn't find it in the UK either. Bought mine on ebay from a seller in singapore.

op-tech here too. I don't mind the bounce at all but I can see how some people might find it distracting.

I use an Op-Tech too. One thing I'm concerned about is, with the weight of a 7D n 17-55 hanging off it, the metal loops on the camera are starting to chew through the straps. I have adjusted the length a couple of times but it is starting again. Any suggestions for strengthening the braid where it goes through the loop?
