This may be a silly question - Nikon 17-55mm filter

Hey all,

I have a Nikon 17-55mm 2.8 and I want a filter for it....I'm currently doing alot of work in a commercial bodyshop and it's an extremely dusty and dirty environment.

I'm aware the filter thread is 77mm, but can I fit a conventional filter to this lens? It looks like the front element sticks out too much?

I'm going cross-eyed looking at it up close....

For the record I'm looking at a Hoya Pro1 digital UV filter

It takes a normal filter fine. I have a Hoya Pro1 digital UV filter fitted to mine.

Yeah really silly question, but then so are many on this forum.

I wouldn't go that far,lol. From the side it honestly looks like the front element protrudes. I would've been sillier not to ask and just buy one in my opinion....

Same here bud, I use a standard CPL filter on mine.
