Serves you right for not being in the UK! Had a great day on Wednesday over at Helsby in Cheshire, the sun came out for a couple of hours!!
Hope it improves for you soon!!

LOL we usually have great weather!
We're not suppose to get sun til end of Sunday or Monday.
Thank's i hope so too.

Practice taking some shots of 'something' in the rain from your front/back door. Get really low down and use a slowish shutter speed - 1/60th or so and see what you get. With heavy rail even patio flags can look amazingly atmospheric as the rain bounces about. Just keep the camera steady - a cushion is good for very low down.

You'll be surprised.

Many a good shot can be had from inside the house, heres one from our loft window, grabbed it before heading out to work the other morning.

that is nice black to white tonality
how did you do it:)

Thumbs up for the home made freezer bag protection. I actually use thick poly bags that my film shoots used tobe returned from the lab in - I have a couple in each bag.

Cut along one side. Cut the corner off just large enough for the end of the lens. Rubber band over the bag and holding it tight on the front of the lens. The rest is fine and you can get your hands up inside to work the zoom/focus and the shutter button, your eye to the finder. Away you go, with the rain being kept off.

Don't be so precious about your kit, it is more robust than you would think. They are right - go and find some streetlighting when it is wet, all those coloured reflections from the neon signs and car lights.

Blowin' a hoolie here this morning. Winds up to 70mph today apparently, warning folks not to go out. I have visions of the Jack Russell pup sailing over the house. Hard to stand up to take a pic in that THEN add the rain!

So I'm shooting models indoors tomorrow, much more civilised :)

Another vote for a plastic bag and some city scapes after dark. Or go and shoot candids in Grand Central Station, now that's a location! :)

Bet you are having the exact same problem out there Rob. Want me to send some plastic freezer bags to keep the rain off?

i really enjoyed having my 70-300 sigma, it was a really good first long lens, that was back in the days when i took photos of course, now i just buy realy expensive stuff and shove it in a bag...

Matty, you do realise that statement is likely to end up with a challenge to actually go out and shoot SOMETHING......ANYTHING.....you could even take a pic of the bag! :)
