Thistle and Flower close ups

This was bit of a sod to keep still in the wind yesterday, but I managed it but with stuck fingers!!

This next shot was done with my compact camera on hols the other year. I think it is a Hibiscus flower

Just thought I would share, my stuff hopefully will get better. I have a long way to go to get up to some of the standards I see on this forum.

I think you got the depth of field spot on with that first shot exactly the right amount in focus! Maybe a bit too much black in the background but well done for capturing it in the wind Second shot doesnt do a lot for me, looks slightly out of focus to me and maybe a large depth of field would have worked on this one, just to get a bit of texture from the petals etc behind.

Well done though, some good macro work!

I agree with Jimmy on the first one and it's got my favourite background colour !!!!!

Good colours in the second one, perhaps a different angle would have shown if off better :shrug:

I'd have cropped the first one differently too

I tried macro shots on one of those hibiscus flowers once - way too long to get a decent amount in focus

I see how that crop you did, brings more focus to the shot.

With the second shot, I had only bought the camera earier that day and was playing about with it. I was very supprised on the macro ability of it.
