Thoughts on a replacement for Canon 7d mk1

Just got my Canon 7d mk1 out for a test ready for a safari in 5 weeks and I'm getting the err 80 message, I've been told it looks like a main board problem but I need to get it sent off to confirm it, it's my backup camera to my 5dmk3

I'm just wondering if the repair is a bit costly it might be better to get a new camera, I would like a crop sensor really for the wildlife stuff so I'm thinking the 7d mk2 would be the obvious choice but was wondering what other peoples thoughts were.

I've just been using my 5D3 and got the same err 80 message, swapped lens, message went away, put the lens on that was giving err 80 and it's gone away too.
Sure you have a real "problem"?

If it turns out you do have to replace the 7D then the 7D2 is a no brainer. It's the obvious choice really and you'll be amazed at how much better the Mark ii is, massive improvement on the original and functions very similar to your 5D3.

Thanks Matt, Yes I've tried every combination of lenses, CF cards, removed both batteries, cleaned connections, updated firmware. With no change.

Just found out the main PCB has some corrosion on it repair will cost £317 all in so looks like a new 7d mk2 maybe.
