And one with black text for the light backgrounds

I think your shots are fantastic, as for the watermark ... good job on that too; but it's your shots here that catch my attention.

Love how sharp you've made these out to be. Do you mind telling what set-up you've used?

Looking back to the watermarks; in your 3rd posted picture, it's hard to read due to the light text on the light / mixed background. May be that can be sorted out ... not sure how.

Most of the shots above were taken with the Nikon 17-55, the 4th down was taken with the Sigma 70-200 at around 70mm (i think). Oh, and used a d300 for them all.

I noticed that too, I was thinking of moving the watermark to another corner for shots that are hard to read in a particular place, I'll upload another version of that one now..

Thanks for the reply .... What ISO settings did you have, and how did you get them with such low noise?

For the 3rd shot, how about putting the watermark in the top right corner? I am not too fond of them being so high, but that does seem like the only suitable place given the colours.

Just after uploading the version with it in the top corner, good minds must think a like ;)

As for the iso, the lighting for PCD was almost like sunlight it was so bright so it wasnt a problem, Priest wasn't so pretty on lighting, I think it was at 1000, and I can thank the d300 for the results i suppose!

Too small and easily cropped off. You should try for a semi-transparent centred watermark if you want to protect your images. If you are using Lightroom you can do these using the Imagemagick Mogrify plugin.

Cheers for the feedback, I agree that it is quite small and can be easily cropped, everything i tried in the centre tended to ruin the image so I went with this option

the watermarks look good, and you need to decide if the risk of being chopped off is a risk - or if defacing th shot with a centre watermark is a bigger risk.

on thing that you should not miss (which you have ) is that the ITPC info is not complete - the bit that is really important - your email address and website address is missing together with the copyright notice/status and the rights usage terms, so if anyone removes the web address by cropping - somebody like a newspaper of magazine editor can use ITPC to correctly credit and pay you for use. the ITPC info can be removed (as can centre watermarks) but ITPC it is another useful option to protect copyright

That's a good point, not too sure how ive missed that one out, cheers! :)

sorry(how rude am i?) - great photos by the way - gig photography is not easy - for me #2 is the best shot - but #1 is a simple shot done very well - it's a shot that should sell as it sets the scene well for mags and newspapers

Ha! No problem, I just chose a selection of different images from my last few gigs that have different lighting. #2 and 3 have appeared in several papers ;)

Yeah I have seen them locally and grunted and grumbled at how good they where and I wish I had the chance at a gig someday.

Hoping to maybe get my 20D in for The View's gig at The Mandella Hall.

As for the topic though, I would whack them into the middle as I found out in the last day after being stung rather than in the corner as they would have just cropped it out of the photo anyway and anyone who wants to steal your photos may do the same.

Whilst I hate having to distract from the photo it's better than them being lifted and cropped.

One of my friends in The States uses one across the middle without it taking away too much from the picture.

You should be fine getting it into Mandela, I'll be at the gig too so I can take it in for you if you want ;)

Thanks for the comments everyone, Im going to have another play around in PS and see if I can get a suitable centre watermark, if not, I'll stick with this one :)
