Hi everyone,

thinking of getting a Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 to use as a walkabout, but also to compliment a nifty fifty, and a sigma 70-200 f/2.8 to be used for gig pics.

Thoughts please.

Cheers
J

I have the 18-50 on a Pentax mount, and it's a really good lens, fast and solid. The Tamron is another option, and is possibly optically superior, but feels a little less solid. I'm very happy with the lens and it's rarely off the body.

I don't have the 70-200 on any mount, but have recently looked at the reviews and comparisons for the Sigma and Tamron toying with the idea of picking one up, and for gig's I'd probably stick with the choice of the Sigma for the faster AF. Again the Tamron's supposed to be optically superior, but gets caned for low light AF, which wouldn't be of any use to you...
