Thoughts....should I lose the blog bit on my site

Yes
Here's the site in question

http://www.shutter-life.co.uk

I initially set it up as a complete wordpress site, then chopped it up and used only the frontpage as the 'blog' portion of wordpress and kept the rest as seperate gallery pages powered by slideshow pro.

So, well ahead of my usual 6 month redesign, I'm thinking of losing the blog and keeping the site as a normal showcase for my pics, may have the front page as a 'recent additions' landing page.

I'm not really getting much traffic through atm anyway, so it's not like people will miss out on my two-post musings :)

Any thoughts?

What do you use the blog for? Just documenting your day to day life?

If thats the case, I say lose it.

I use the blog bit on my website for my 365 project, and it doesnt appear on the front page either, its nicely tucked away :)

Hope that helps?

That does :) a nice compromise perhaps, not lose it altogether but keep it in case I do embark on specific projects I'd like others to know about.

If i remember right, Wordpress allows you to assign a different page for your frontpage so you could have a nice intro or gallery page and still link off to the blog for those interested.

*edit* beaten to it :)

:agree:

Thats right, my "About Me" page shows first, I have chopped and changed it recently :)

Always keep the blog bit to hand, you never know when you might need it for something :)

Rob, having looked at your site in Firefox, the style sheet seems a little iffy as it pushes all your text and images off to the left away from what I presume is the border so that it overlaps. Doesn't look right at all ??

:agree:

Looks strange on firefox, the text apears not to float over the corrrect bit of the background graphic

weird, I'm sure it was ok before but have just had a look in FF as well, it's contained in a center aligned 1085 width table, or at least supposed to be :(

Could someone check something for me please?

goto www.shutter-life.co.uk/portrait.html and tell me if you see the portrait gallery or automotive?

I've got an IE & FF session up now and in IE it's showing portrait, in FF it's showing automotive, I've cleared FF's cache so I'm not sure what's going on here.

that link is bring me up the automotive stuff, using firefox. also on the main page the wording on the right (recent posts) sorta slides off the style part, if you see what im saying.

yet it works fine in IE, it shows the portrait gallery (which it should). Everything works fine in IE, I've tried all the links in FF and they all point to automotive..grrrrr

ok, I found the problem, I had an object code for the SWF which caters for non-IE browsers which had the automotive.swf reference so I've fixed that and also the alignment (also removed the blog bit for now)
