If you had to suggest a camera and 1 lens only for a beginner, mid level and higher/pro level then what would it be?

Beginner Canon 450D + 18-200mm
Mid-level Canon 40D + 18-200mm
Pro Canon 5D MkII + 24-105mm

How does that sound?

Absolutley no idea without a subject!

What would be good for nature/motorsports is going to be pants at portraits/landscapes. :)

I know but thats why i asked. If you had to choose just one lens to do as much as possible with each camera then what would it be? Lets just say a general walkabout lens.

Not just the lens though is it? Crop vs FF, Autofocus points, frame rate, ISO range..........heck tech spec sheets for cameras go on for three pages now! :)

I could just say Hasselblad H31 and a Blad zoom for the lot then :)

What's a walkabout higher level / professional?

Pointless question really mate. If you want a 'walkabout' lens, there are lots of threads on here with suggestions.

Sorry folks never realised it was such a difficult question to answer :bang:

Not so much that it's a difficult question to answer more it's the wrong question. It's far to general and any answer would be justafiable using deiiferent rationals, from my point of view why would a pro only have one lens unless they did something very very specific.

My answer just to illustrate the futility of the question, Olympus OM2 and a 50mm f1.8 lens for all three, pro gear at beginer prices.

You can close it if you want or just leave it and it will die a death

Go to thread tools at the top of this thread I think its the last option mate
