Tilt-shift adapters

Hi folks,

I think tilt-shift photography might be a fun thing to try, but the costs of the PC-E Nikkors are nothing short of daylight robbery. So, I'm doing my research, pondering about this and that.

I know that older manual medium format 50 or 80mm f2.8 lenses can be had for affordable prices and the flange distance should be long enough to prop an adapter ring between lens and the F-mount.

Has anyone come across a reasonable tilt-shift adapter?

I found some tilt adapter for Kiev lenses, but I'm not sure that would be too great.

Later, I've stumbled across this: http://www.mirex-adapter.de/preisliste.htm. Alas, their prices are on the steep side.

I'm also not sure what lens would actually be a good value for money choice (Mamiya, Hasselblad, Kiev, ...?).

Any input appreciated :)

Cheers,
Mike

Unfortunately PS won't allow me to extend my depth of field by aligning the lens. For example, a sharp floor running front to back of the image.

No, but focus stacking will!

If not, when I get around to it I'll be putting my Nikkor 35/2.8 PC lens up for sale here, but it lacks the tilt functionality of the tilt/shift lenses.

Ansel Adams used a large format camera, with very little depth of field so he needed all the help he could get. All manner of tilt and shift and swivel and rotate movements are standard on all large format cameras.

They're just not necessary with small format cameras as there's plenty of DoF anyway, and shift perspective corrections are easily done in post processing. So T&S lenses are pretty specialist use TBH, especially as they're expensive and slow to use.

Here's one I made earlier. It's an old 80mm enlarging lens blu-tacked inside a LensBaby Composer. LensBaby have just introduced a high quality tilt adapter to take Nikon fit lenses I think - check out their website.
