I'm looking for some advice as I would like to try a lens with tilt movements - I can't afford the new nikon versions with the tilt movements, but have seen a tilt/shift lens by Arax and another by Hartblei, both made in the Ukraine.

Does anyone have either of these versions and are the results any good?

I know lensbaby makes lenses with tilt movements, but I don't think they have enough control.

Thanks in anticipation.

I have heard good things about them, but have not used them.
FWIW, I have sold my old MF TS lenses. For me they are just too much of a specialty lens which get too little use. With lens correction in post I haven't found the need for them anymore... maybe if you do a lot of critical architecture type work it would be worth owning.

Thanks Steven, I do have a mf shift lens, but it's the tilt function I am now interested in to try some different focal plane images (not the miniature styles).

Anyone else tried?

I've just tried a tilt adapter for Fuji which is basically a MF lens loaded on a ball joint connected to the camera. It does what it is supposed to, I guess, but like your comments on the Lensbaby (which I've not seen) control is lacking and it is a bit fiddly. If you have patient subjects I can see it being fine. But even my heavily bribed son soon got bored of me trying to get the plane of focus where I wanted it.

Hasn't the Samyang been announced for quite a while now? Strange it is not out yet.

The Samyang does look interesting, but if it costs about £1k, I'd rather have a used copy of the nikon version, unless the samyang is proved to be a better lens.

Thanks for the info on the adapter on the x-pro, Ian, it is an option I have considered, but the lack of control was my worry, and you have confirmed it.
