Tilt Shift lenses

I am looking at purchasing a tilt shift lens, I have a Canon 1D MKIV.
Yes I know its primary use is in other areas but I use it for all sorts, portraits, sports, weddings, you name it I use it.
Clearly I would need a Canon mount, I mention this as I am not worried about it being a Canon lens, just the mount.
I am looking at the Samyang T-S 24mm f/3.5 at the moment, reviews & comparisons.

I was hoping for some feed back on this and other lenses used, good-bad etc.

Well, i am new to TS areas, i bought 2 Canon lenses in this year [2014], used both slightly, but they both are amazing sharp and i am very happy to use them.

I use both on my Canon cameras i have and on my Sony A7R, incredible, the shot on my avatar is taken by TS lens, or if you want you can see them here:

Thank you for posting the images, is it the Canon T-S 24mm f/3.5 you have?
 
Well I have had a read of the Samyang & the Canon T-S 24mm lenses & the Samyang I can find for £525 & the Canon at £1325 respectively (both new).
The Samyang needs to be stopped down to at least f/9.0 where as the Canon at f/3.5 although not perfect is acceptable.
So unless there are other alternatives at a lower cost I'm going to save up for the Canon...
 
I have Canon TS 24mm II and 17mm, not 24 mark 1, and the images i posted are from those 2 TS lenses i have.

With both of my lenses, i even stop down to f5.6 and it is sharp, even wide open is sharp, but i prefer to use f8 and above when i want to have more DoF, and with tilt i can increase DoF or decrease it to degrees.

I don't have any experience about Samyang TS, i asked this question in the past long time ago about Samyang compared to Canon and all told me to go with Canon so i didn't look more and went with Canon and never look back and very happy i did.
 
You might decide that it's not for you, Simon, but it's always worth considering a Zoerk or Mirex T-S adapter and grabbing a few bargain MF lenses. You might not save much for a single lens setup but each additional focal length comes at a huge discount. The main limitation in practical terms is that 28mm +/- is about as wide as you can go.

I'm just being pedantic, Tareq, but tilting does not increase DoF....it just allows you put the plane of focus where you want it and the region within DoF moves with it.

And what is DoF means? anyway, when i said DoF i should said the focus areas increased or decreased rather than saying DoF, and this is what i know about Dof as areas of focus.

Say plain of focus, this is the main of tilt mechanism, was taken from large format, and i am happy to use this feature of the lens, otherwise if it didn't work then going with normal lens is a better idea.
 
Thanks Canon Bob I'll have a look at those suggestions I'm happy with MF lenses. Shame there isn't a macro T-S but I have noticed some T-S lenses can take extenders & of course tubes.

Yes, and for that i really want to buy TS-E 90mm, this will give me better macro shots with or without extension tubes than 17 or 24 which are so wide.
 
The TS-E90 is close to macro magnification with a 25mm tube behind it....excellent option. All TS lenses are MF so that's not something you'll sacrifice with an adapter setup and there are some good 120mm macro lenses in medium format stables.

Your best bet it to look at Mamiya 75mm shift lens and then Mamiya adapter to Canon EOS, i have an adapter for Hasselblad 500 series lenses to Canon, but i don't have any medium format TS lens, was thinking about to buy Mamiya shift 75mm for my Mamiya body and then one day i buy that adapter, but i canceled this idea as i don't see big advantage to do it over my Canon TS lenses.
 
there's a new adapter ts thing but I cant remember the brand, its over 1k
its like a mini view camera but with mounts at both ends
50mm or so upwards should be easy to get in mf lens types
rb67 lenses might do a 7-8cm circle, maybe more
 
I have been toying with getting a dmf but haven't looked at s/h just new & the cheapest (ish) I've seen is the new Pentax 645 but with 50m+ pixels it's very tempting, just don't tell the wife!
 
Blimey pingu sounds interesting let's know if you remember the name.
 
Hartblei SuperRotators cover 6x6 and fit a DSLR although they are costly as they use Zeiss optics. Schneider do TS lenses for Canon but again you pay a handsome price for it. The Canon 17 and 24 always seem to get rave reviews.

Thanks for the info on the different options etc. Good to see other questions coming in as well because it makes it more interesting and informative plus highlights areas I haven't \ didn't know \ think of. Cheers everybody.

You'll need to scroll down a little to get to where he starts about the lens in a round about fashion.
