I am currently a first year law student, studying abroad at the University of Groningen. I have a strong interest in photography which picked up a few months ago. After starting out with a Panasonic Lumix TZ8, which I loved, I plucked up the courage to splash the cash on a Canon 500D and kit lens.
I used it a lot when I was still in England, however after moving to The Netherlands, I have had a lot less time to spend doing things that I enjoy. Whenever I do find the time I have no ideas for things that I would want to photograph.
I would say that I'm still a noob to photography, I know what ISO, apeture and shutter speed are and how they affect images, but I don't have much experience putting that into practice. I would like to set myself a few projects to try and complete in between university work, but I just have no creative ideas - I spend a lot of time reading and working on my university assignments, so when I come home it is already dark outside or I just can't find the motivation to pick up my gear and head out; it doesn't help that the weather here has been pretty bad lately.
I do have a slight interest in experimenting with street photography, however my Dutch isn't up to a standard where I would feel comfortable to approach a stranger and start a conversation :/
Do you guys have any ideas of projects that I could undertake to try and improve my photography skills? Also, do you think that it would be a good idea to use Flickr, or start my own blog to post about my images? I have heard of a lot of people using Flickr, but many experienced people that I spoke to said that Flickr isn't too great for getting feedback on my images :/
Sorry for the long post... Thanks in advance!
