Time Laspe Equipment

Hi all,
I am looking into doing some time laspe shooting.

So what is the best time laspe unit to get.

There is of course the offiical canon unit which is priced high because it is canon.
So what units should I be considering ?

I have one of these - http://www.linkdelight.com/R8B9-LCD-Timer-Remote-for-Canon-TC-80N3-7D-/-5D-Mark-II-/-50D.html (though obviously the 40D version) that works a treat

Only downside is that is never turns off! and the battery sometimes warns it is running low, then just carries on working...bit odd, but for that price for I cant complain.

Before you buy, will CHDK allow timelapse on the 7D?

I use one of these, has all the features of the canon and wireless which I find useful, would recommend it

Any reason you want it to be wireless? Guess it would go through batteries much quicker. With a wired remote you can use it without batteries as cable release. A search on ebay will bring up a lot of cheap intervalometers, I got a Yongnuo one for under £20.

I just preferred not to have a wired remote hanging from a tripod. I had a cheap chinese wired remote before which hung from the camera and the cord was a bit of a pain, also the connections were pretty bad and the cable broke where it entered the remote within a few months.

That would have been a solution but the wireless one wasnt too expensive and I thought it would be handy. After having the cable go on one ebay remote I didnt want the hassle of it happening again. Nothing wrong with the wired ones though just personal preference

Well Camera World near me stock the wire remote, so I think I will give that a try.
My first time laspe will be the night sky and my for coming city break to Madrid. So I can capture the city with people moving around.
