I've set up a camera at work to capture a construction project. The work is expected to take 3 months .

I've set up a canon 50D fitted with a 10-22mm lens. The camera is controlled by a Canon timer (TC-80N3) which takes a photo every 10 minutes.. It's getting it's supply through a mains adapter. As for the memory. I have used a 16gb card.

It's already taken four days worth of shots. The timer is not intelligent so the camera takes a photo 24/7. I thought that might be a problem until I looked at the shots. It's interesting to see the transformation from day to night and when the work starts again in the morning.

I may post a youtube link to the finished product in the summer.

Thats really cool Rory - I'd love to do something like that - if only I had a spare 50D to mess about with

Yeah, I mean, isn't that a bit of an overkill? The utility you will lose from not using the 50D for 3 months would definitely justify a 300D purchase, which would be more than sufficient for this kind of work!

this sounds great cant wait to see the finished lapse will you show it to the forum ?

Is the camera outdoors? Either way, would love to see a pic of the rig :)

Did you consider any other recording devices apart from the 50D?

Yes I will.

The camera is located indoors. I have it covered to prevent dust being a problem. 50D overkill? Ok, but this is a project costing a few ££ and the 50D was a drop in the ocean. I expect a few stills might be required out of the set.

I would be very interested with the outcome of this. I did a similar project last year of a stage rig going up, it took a day and I compressed it to 5 mins. This was a video project not stills. A little bit too long really and I think maybe two mins is long enough.

that sounds very interesting, would love to see the results.
