timelapse with a canon 20D (need to capture 1 image per sec)

I have downloaded the EOS software to my laptop an it works a treat for time-lapse (images straight to laptop is a bonus too) but I could do to be able to take an image every second or too the EOS software limits me to a pic ever 5 seconds. Is this a software limit or camera limitation? I'd rather shoot jpeg but RAW would be ok.

any suggestion for freebie utils that would sort me an approx 1sec time-lapse solution.

yep seen them (infact one of the guys here has cone because I keep having to repair the cable), BUT I really need a solution for this afternoon and ideally would like to record straight to a tethered laptop as there may be about 6-700 images per test and 20 tests (we are stress testing composites and using the camera to record the fractures).

^ that's the only solution that leaps to mind. Not much good for such short notice - why such short notice?

Maybe ring round the local and localish Jessops, Jacobs, LCE, independents, etc and see who's got what on the shelf.

If you can postpone until tomorrow you could ring further afield and get something couriered or overnighted.

such short notice because that is what happens when you a uni lab tech, people try and sort things themselves and then only come and talk to you once its REALLY urgent. We are going to try the EOS util this afternoon and see if we can slow the strain machine down to compensate for the slow time-lapse.

A quick bit of Googling around EOS Utilities and timelapse.. switch off the image download to the PC, that's probably the bottle-neck. Just stick with saving the images to the card in the camera.
